During a scan of the craigslist Seoul Women Seeking Men, I came across this ad: http://seoul.craigslist.org/w4m/211869360.html

Which is notable only because of the following line: "I am NOT one of those foreign women who hangs around Itaewon in her underwear and acts trashy."

I have not spent a single minute in Itaewon.

What the heck is she talking about? Anybody know?

She's looking for a Korean guy. Aren't they all looking for a trashy white woman who is happy to parade around in bra and panties in public?

"Oh, and I won't whine at you on the subway."

She clearly has issues with the local competition.

She probably doesn't want to be regarded in the same light as some of the types that hang in Itaewon. I don't think she has "issues", but it's clear she doesn't hold certain kinds of women in high-esteem. I don't go clubbing there, but I've read enough stories on discussion boards to know that there are some fairly low-quality women to be found. I've heard Polly's Kettle gets some pretty skanky women in the wee hours. My co-worker told me a story about trying to use a restroom, only to find some (probably Russian) woman straddling a Nigerian dude as he sat on the filthy toilet. Anyway, I'm sure she doesn't want people to think ALL western girls are like that, especially if she's looking for a Korean guy.

I think she's right about the clothing comment, too. I've seen certain styles of dress (or undress, rather) in Itaewon that I don't see anywhere else in Seoul.

The reality of Itaewon is never as much fun as people's negative projections of it - particularly the ones who never go there.

Could be refering to the bikini/hawaiian theme parties that sometimes happen (happened?) at bricx etc?

My husband is attending a bingo party in Itaewon tonight, and the theme is "white trash night", so they will be dressing up as "white trash." I would assume that some of these girls will fit the poster's description.
