In a previous thread, I had requested information regarding cancelling an E7 visa application from a previous employer. I had contacted the Foreigner Worker Office, and they contacted my previous employer. My previous employer claimed that they had attended to the immigration office to cancel the E7 visa application. The employer lied. It has been over 5 weeks since my previous employer had agreed in writing to cancel the E7 application. The Foreigner Worker Officer has done nothing to persuade the previous employer to abide by their written agreement. Secondly, the Seoul Legal Advice center has no english speaking representatives.
As a result, I have been unable to obtain employment for 5 weeks and lost two lucrative positions as a result of my previous employers inactions. I would greatly appreciate any advice and list of COMPETENT english speaking (preferably western) lawyers (that are reasonably priced). Thanks again eveyone. |

Your local embassy will have a list of lawyers but I strongly doubt you will find anyone who is competent, English speaking and affordable. You can probably find one who will fit 2 out of 3 of your criteria.
If I was you I would settle for competent and affordable. Translators are cheaper than lawyers.
I am curious however. You have stated in previous posts that "at your workplace..." but you suggest here that you only have a "visa application" that needs to be cancelled. Which is it? If you actually have a visa then you can go to the labor board and through them obtain a release from your previous employment.
If you have no visa (just a visa application) and were indeed working illegally, then you have other problems to deal with.
The 3rd possibility that comes to mind after reading some of your past posts is that you are nothing more than an internet troll ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) ).
The last alternative is that you can always go back to the litigious states of America. After reading some of your past posts.... this may be the best idea.
You certainly don't appear to have the common sense or street smarts necessary to avoid problems outside of your home country. |

Go over to www.efl-law.com and they will be able to give you legal advice and put you in touch with English speaking Korean lawyers.
I should have also mentioned that you need to go into the forums section to ask for advice.

Have you tried going back to your former place of employment and speaking to him? |

In response to ttompatz:
Previous posts from you regarding this incident had been extremely helpful. According to immigration, my E7 application had never been processed, contrary to the statements from my previous employer that it had been processed internally.
You do raise an interesting question. Can the labour board get involved in cancelling an application to immigration, without previously engaging in employment with the previous employer?
As for your other comments, if ANY opportunity arose to leave this dodgy country, I would be on the first plane out of here (as per the advice of many of colleagues and friends). However, due to the amount of money owed to me by various universities, companies, and organizations, I am awaiting some resolution first.
As per the suggestion of being a "troll", I honestly don't care what people think. I have a life outside of Dave's esl cafe, and feel no need to fabricate situatons to amuse myself.
Another question was regarding if I spoke to my previous employer, and the answer is YES (of course). I have sent numerous e-mails, text messages, and phone calls and have received no recent response. They are under the false illusion that I will do nothing (as many others do). They are sadly mistaken. |

Believe me when I tell you that physical presence is MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE than just an email, text message, or phone call. A long-standing physical presence cannot be deleted, erased, or ignored. Get there, set-up shop, and go for it. |

| CUBANLORD: Sound advice. Unfortunately, I have to wait until the E7 Visa application is cancelled. My understanding is that the previous employer can make things difficult for me at immigration for future processing of visas with other organizations. When that application is cancelled, I will begin various processes in making their lives miserable. |
