I know CDI's been done to death, but I'm looking for some info on the branch in Ilsan.
PM me if you can help.
Cheers. |

Tell the recruiter you are interested.
Have them send you the contract.
AFTER you look at the contract, ask for the e-mails of some teachers. They will probably only give you 1 e-mail. Ask that foreigner for the e-mails of some of the other foreigners there.
Ask THEM about conditions at the school.
Below is cut and pasted and not specific to CDI but should be asked for any hakwon position.
ASK SPECIFICALLY - and get good answers about:
+PAY - on time every time?
+Overtime (do they pay it or avoid it with creative book keeping).
+CLASSES - how many per day / week / month. How long is a class and +WHAT IS A CLASS HOUR. A contract that says 120 class hours can have you doing up to 180 x 40 minute classes (7200 contact minutes) per month for the same money as someone doing 120 x 50 minute classes (6000 contact minutes per month).
+Do they really pay into the pension and national medical? Just because the contract says they do does NOT mean that they really do.
+Do they do taxes properly or just flat rate you at 3.3 or 5% (illegal but often done - money is often not remitted to the tax man)
+What is the housing like and what do they pay for? Your free apartment can cost you up to 150k or more won per month (not really free).
+Will they PREPAY a 1 year open airticket ticket? Don't settle for less.
There is NO substitute for 1st hand research. Opinions of myself and others on this board may not be indicative of current conditions in any particular hakwon.
Check, check, check. |

I knew some people that worked at CDI in Ilsan. They seemed to be happy with the money but the seemed to work very long hours. |

Yes, that's the dilemma. Not that up for working weekends either, but need a job asap and another one's just fallen through ... |
