|
|
Hi guys...
I've asked a million newbie PC questions here lately but this is one more.
I ordered a desktop PC in the US wayyyy back in the summer, it finally arrived at my USA residence. My family is now sending it on to Korea.
I'm wondering if I would actually have to go to the aiport to make sure this thing clears customs. I have it addressed to me at my middle school so do you think it will actually eventually arrive there? Or do I need to go to the airport or wherever to pick this up?
I understand it'll be expensive to ship etc but I'm willing to accept that as I just want the damn thing right now because its still a $2000 waste of money until it arrives to me.
Any help'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

You don't need to do anything. I would have your mother pack the PC in a plain old cardboard box.
1st. Place the PC in a plastic bag so that moisture, if it seeps through, doesn't ruin your PC
2nd. Place the PC in a plain old cardboard box. Make sure those packing peanuts surround the PC in the box.
3rd. COMPLETELY SEAL the box with packing tape.
4th. Make sure you send it insured. Customs will usually not open boxes that are insured (if they do and something happens, THEY are responsible for it and your shipping company will have to refund you the money for it).
Just remember, SEND IT INSURED. Customs has NO IDEA if it is new or not. If you send it in a plain old cardboard box, they'll think it's used.
Have fun with your new PC when you get it.

Very good advice, and people should keep it in mind when they're having any dutiable electronic gear sent to Korea, not just computer stuff. Another thing to consider is having your mother take all the manuals, CD-Roms, warranty and anything else that came with the computer and mail that to you in a SEPARATE box or in one of those huge, sturdy, bubblewrap-lined envelopes. Creates a better "used" appearance not having those arrive together with your computer. |

I had a brand new LCD shipped to Korea in the original box. Originally customs demanded I pay duty on it. My school sent them a copy of my contract and visa stating I was only going to be in the country for so long, and I did not have to pay any tarrifs on it. |

Cuban Lord's is one of the few Korean FEAR servers, so it's easy enough to find. Now if only I could suck less at that game. |

SIRFINK!!!!!!! I saw you the other day! Weren't we playing Capture the flag? Anyways, I try to leave my server running all of the time. There is nothing better than coming home after working and studying all day and playing some FEAR online while eating dinner. I love it.
Sirfink, see you on tonight? Around 7? |
