Many young singles in Korea regard finding a life partner to be a tougher job than earning money, according to a recent survey.
In an online survey of 780 single men and women in their mid-20s to late-30s, 63.9 percent of men and 53.1 percent of women said that finding a spouse seemed to be more difficult than making money, matchmaking company Bien-Aller reported yesterday.
Only 11.3 percent of men and 12.4 percent of women answered that making money was harder, while 24.8 percent of men and 34.4 percent of women said that both endeavours entailed the same difficulty.
To analyze the thoughts and life goals of people in the so-called "marriageable age," the company selected 390 men and 390 women, and sent out a list of five questions through e-mail. |

I looked at that site before (ublove)... there are some pretty girls there. I figure they get blasted with guys wanting a bit of fun. As for finding a cool match there, I am skeptical. One never knows though. |

jajdude, I don't get your point.
Mine on this thread is that we should consider the source of the poll in assessing the credibility of its findings. I worked part time for the most prestigious polling company in Canada (was Angus Reid, before it merged) and its claims to neutrality was belied by the day-to-day office practices, believe you me.
My point jajdude on that other thread, in good natured jest, was to refer to your late night broodings here at Dave's. Sorry if it bothered you, wasn't meant to.
And yeah I bet I'm more sober than you, but that's neither here nor there. |

They are searching for fun as well. Not for marriage partner.
Unless they are older and not hot - then they are searching for whatever they can get a hold on.
So don't worry. |

Think his point was you were posting at 6:20am. Which is either a very late night or a very early morning, on a saturday the former seems more likely. |

I think the notion is true: finding one's life partner is tougher than making dough. Business is more of an exact science than human relationships; basically if you have talent or work hard, you can get somewhere. |

Ah well, the latter is the case: I'm up by dawn the latest most days. I'm a morning person. This time I checked my emails and PMs and posted before going for my morning walk (wouldn't think of working at my fav time of day).
Extra difficult to meet one's mate when one's a morning person who doesn't drink much nor dates the locals yet lives in a relatively rural area. Almost impossible. The last four years have been a wash in that regard. |

True? Apologies. Yeah meeting girls (or boys I assume) without booze is a difficult process. |

It's kinda sad to see my co-workers all single and depressed. Sometimes I just wonder, why are they single?? They're not too bad looking, make good money, are smart, nice... why no partner? |

It takes more than money or looks to get a partner. Take for instance the finance sector. Dropping several hundred thousand won is pretty standard on a night out for these types, so you'll attract the gold diggers or room salon types.
Plus let's just not assume that just because one is single, one is looking. |
