I was wondering if anybody could help me find a school in Seoul or Incheon that teaches the Korean Language to foriegners. I have been looking into some programs at the universities but they are expensive and I was wondering if anybody knew of any around the area that was somewhat reasonably priced. Also, where is there a bookstore nearby where I can buy language books and CD's. Any help would be greatly aappreciated. |

Kyobo books at Gwangwhamun station and Bandi & Lundi at Jonggak station have a decent selection of Korean books for all levels.
As far as non-uni language programs, I'm not too sure.
I know that a "Best Friend" center recently opened near my place in Sinchon, but I'm not too sure how it's doing or if it's any good. |

It's a little expensive, but I'm going for my level test tomorrow. If I like the looks of things I will sign up.
There's also the YBM-Sisa in Jongno. They are reasonably priced and have classes for all levels but not a schedule that suits me, unfortunately. |

looks interesting.
it's still cheaper than seoul korean language institute (seoul-kla.com).
a little bit higher monthly tuition, but double the hours.

university programs are not expensive if you look at it as a per hour rate. I believe when your break it down for sogang it comes to about 6700 won per hour. A damn good deal if you ask me.
I'll be there this winter. |

yeah I'm doing the 10 week course at SNU which is 500k, however it's 6 hours a week for 10 weeks so well worth it IMHO. |

Has anyone taken the course through Sookmyung Women's University? I'm thinking about their 3-day-a-week evening course in October. Any good? |

I've taken the sookmyung course, I found it to be very fast paced and not as focused as the Seoul course. But still pretty good. |

I know I've looked at the very informative section on this in the FAQ section before. I would suggest picking up the basics from a book -- Survival Korean by the creepy looking yet relevant KBS dude Stephen Revere is a good one -- and then, based on your smarts and commitment, choose the school. I know Yonsei and Sogang Universities have the best overall reputation, but those are mostly for serious, dedicated students. If you just want practical, conversational stuff, get a book, then just start making Korean friends. |

Wow. The level test starts with a 16-page exam which took me over 30 minutes to complete, and by the end of it I was leaving blank questions left and right. Anyway, since they literally have no students in my time slot/level combination, I would be stuck at paying 36,000 for each hour. Lame. |

count yourself lucky in london there is only one place to study. i have heard excellent things about EWHA and Yonsei in particular but apparently it is quite expensive so i hear. but they are a very passionate about language learning / teaching there and are very proficient at what they do offering intensive courses.
im suprised that so many of you are having this trouble in korea
crazymoongirl that sounds like a good deal youve got there. could you post / pm me the details please |
