A new running club has formed in Seoul, for all those slow and fast, first and last. Korean, foreigner, alien or albino......

Seoul Synergy is now only a triathlete club and the runners of the club, have formed a new group > Seoul Flyers www.seoulflyers.com . Also a message board at www.seoulflyers.com/bb . We are just begining but have a good base of dedicated runners, of all levels.

Seoul Flyers aims to be a place where both Korean or expats can gather and train together, get support for each others running adventure, form new friendships and race on a casual or serious level.

Weekly training runs take place every Sat. Morning at the Turtle Ship in Ichon, on the Han River. Meet at 7 am. This week the first Wed. weekly evening run will be held at Namsan, 6:30 pm. At the 3k path which runs along the base of Namsan, north side. You can find directions on the message board. or below. Hopefully if the group builds, we will start holding some after run beer and banter sessions........

I have been elected the coach. Many years of international running experience, most distances......Most important piece of advice I can give is, "the hardest part of any workout is getting your shoes on!".

Seoul Flyers will help you reach your fitness goals whatever they be. We help you train, maintain and get registered at races (for example 2 weeks ago we went by bus to the DMZ marathon in Cheor won. ). We also run low key races on the base at Yongsan, open to the general population, 5 and 10ks. They are also free to enter with cool prizes!!!! Yearly club fee, due Jan. 01, is 50,000 won and that gets you a team shirt. Renewal is 25,000.

You can contact the prez to register , Jae Kim at [email protected] or PM myself also (or by email at [email protected]) . I'll be there for the Wed. evening runs. But you don't have to be a member to train with us! Just get your shoes on. .......

Lots more to relate about the club but we've just begun and we hope to get lots of people out, to support each other to achieve our fitness and friendship goals.

Happy Trails.

Namsan wed. 6:30pm run directions.

One course in Seoul which I enjoy is around Namsan Mt. (Seoul Tower). You can begin near the intersection in front of the Grand Hyatt. Follow the sidewalk around the mountain in a counter clockwise direction. When you arrive at the National Theater, turn left and head up hill. When the road forks, bare to the right. This puts you on a beautiful 3k running path. There are bathrooms and drinking fountains along the route.

I've posted a detailed map of both locations of our training runs at the website www.seoulflyers.com at the photo gallery.

This link should work.

You meet at 7am on Saturdays! And I thought the Hash House Harriers running at 10am was early.

Might try & make it for the Wednesday runs, are there changing/shower facilities available?

Yeah, 7 am sucks and as I get older, it sucks big time.....we might change it but it is sort of a ritual. Once you are up and doing it, it is great though.

I'll be there this evening, writing this as I fly out the door. Guy in white hat and orange shirt. Don't know if many people will come initially but this new run should build. It is a great place to run!
