Does anyone currently have the Korean Medical Insurance Union for insurance with their employer?
I'm a newbie, and I'm curious as to what types of benefits it provides.
Is it the law that the Korean National Health Insurance Plan MUST be provided to employees coming over on an E-2?
Very curious about this. I want to minimize the inevitable screwing over
as much as possible with my first contract. I'm not going to sign a contract without the NHIP.
I tried to do a search, but Dave's is not allowing me to do searches
on more than one key word at a time.. |

Korean Medical Insurance Union does NOT exist. It was the precursor to the NHIC (national health insurance corporation)
It IS required by law for all E2 employees to be enrolled BUT MANY hakwons do NOT enroll you in spite of it being a requirement and being in the contract.
Details are available on the NHIC website (English page).
