For all you experienced teachers out there, what would you guys consider good working hours? I am getting all these contract offers that say I have to work 9am-6pm or something ridiculous like 2pm-10pm.

My goal, as what most people's goals are, is to get a job where the pay is good with a minimal amount of hours.

If at a hakwon...back to back hours. None of this "you must prepare at the school B.S" you can do that at home.

6 hours a day.....4-10.

Or my schedule. 5 hours total Mon, Tues and Wed. Firday is a bit busy with 5 classes.

How do you get a job like that? It's been a sore point with me and another foreign teacher that the school wants us there for what amounts to a 40+ hour a week while we teach for 30 of them. I have my own laptop and would love to be able to prepare at home.

The director keeps saying it's for our benefit so we can learn to be good teachers. Not that we get any training during that time. We spend our time scraping together lesson plans for 32 and 35 classes each week.

I want a good job. Crying or Very sad

Lol yea, I do too. I still need to find one though and it seems like all the GOOD jobs are not advertised. They only post the crappy ones up here, seems like to me.

I get worried if the hours are less than 30. If the hours are short you should expect them to increase or perhaps you'll get let go. Nothing is free and the owners will think you owe them something.
