The year is 2030.thanks to the propoganda campaigns of Big bird and ddeubel, muslims are now the majority in large portions of the west. Big Bird has to wear a burqah every day, and letty is being trained to be a terrorist for Allah. Ddeubel has retreated to live on the still untouched dokdo, where he continues to condemn the last christians living in Antarctica, via internet messages.
both choose to overlook the daily beheadings and rapes around them every day. Its just their culture, after all. Big bird endured a public stick beating for using the F*** word the other day, but blames herself for the slip. Ddeubel's only regret was having to give his entire collection of Harry Potter novels to the annual book burning, but otherwise he is still big enough to see the other side of things. Life is good! |

But what about it made you laugh? For me, it was the mental image of him furiously pounding away at the keyboard with one hand, the other planted firmly under his desk, as he frantically tried to hit the "shift" and "1" keys at the same time while images of Letty flitted through his overheating gray matter as spittle dribbled and sputtered sporadically from the corners of his mouth. |

... daily beheadings and rapes on Dokdo. Wow - that's fairly hardcore.
I mean you could only fit like ... 30 people on Dokdo anyway. So after the first month, the rapings are going to get a little bit messy I'd imgine. Errr ...
Anyway, all this Shariah law stuff is a bit blown out of proportion methinks. Yes, I agree that government and religion should be seperated. But when the majority of Bush's voters think that the world started 3000 years ago with Adam and Eve, I don't see how that's possible either way...[/quote] |

| It does raise an interesting question. When parts of the West become Muslim majorities, do people really think notions like cultural relativism will be tolerated? Soon you'll have a chance to walk the walk. |

Not sure about Big Bird, but I don't think I've ever seen ddeubel say that beheadings and rape should be accepted as part of culture.
I know that always gets trotted out as a stereotypical left-wing belief, the idea that anything is okay if it's part of someone's culture. But I think that's more of a caricature than anything else, sort of like saying that all people who oppose abortion think that women should be barefoot and pregnant 24/7.
I probably know more leftists than anyone else currently posting on Dave's, and it's been quite some time since I heard anyone say that things which would otherwise be considered bad should be considered good if they're part of someone's culture. That strikes me as being a real sort of "early 90s" opinion that you would hear on campus.
What I DO hear argued, with varying degrees of credibility, is that westerners shouldn't criticize other cultures until they've cleaned up their own backyard first. The old "physician, heal thyself" thing. I basically support this argument, with the caveat that everything changes when someone moves from their own culture to another culture, but still expects to do things exactly the same as back in the old country. |

Ah ChimpumCallgirl take note! Well expressed OTOH. At least one poster has tried to squeeze me into this neat little caricature (using some unfathomable process of extrapolation) so they can grind that particular axe.
It wasn't just the early 90s either, there was a hell of a lot in that vein being spouted in the opinion/editorial pages of prominent newspapers in support of the Iraq war....a kind of "those people who don't support the Iraq war believe that non-Westerners are not capable of living in a democracy and that it's OK for them to treat women badly because its part of their culture blahblahblah..."
BJWD is another one who seems to have adopted this neat 'logic' - judging by his odd representation of my supposed viewpoint....

I'm pretty much with you on this too. Take note BJWD - it might help you do your assignment! |

2031!
-and Atassi is bored. His "search for truth" is not going well at all. In the corner of his tent, a bookcase stands empty but for several copies of the koran and Mein kampf- the only books allowed nowadays. He had hoped to learn more about how Jews eat babies for breakfast, but as they were virtually extinct, nobody bothered to write about them anymore.
Manner of speaking is still angry after last weeks incident. After some imams walked into the showers, he was subjected to a forced on the spot circumcision, a bloody and botched affair which went a fateful and life-altering inch too far. But he remains philosophical about it all.
Dogbert likes the pink triangle sewn onto his cape. he always wanted to be noticed. He looks forward to the holiday camp they've promised to send him to, where he'll learn how to pick lentils properly.
life is looking up for big bird. Letty's moment of glory failed to ignite, as the training had not gone far enough. Although no longer the proud mom, shes secretly happy that her child is still alive. She makes sure to cover her ankles when going to the mosque every morning.
Ddeubel teaches esl in North korea, the last relatively free country on earth. Junior, who lives up the street, pops in for soju every week. They have agreed to disagree, and Junior makes sure not to talk about his past military achievements against the muslim hordes. He is married to the beautiful chimpum, and they share a luxurious 50 pyung appatuh in Pyongyang. |

I don't see what's wrong with being gay.
I guess a gay Muslim would be "junior"'s biggest nightmare. |
