Heya,

Firstly - NO! Not that kind of massage. I mean a real, therapeutic massage with no naughty stuff.

Okay, that done, I have searched 'n' Googled to no avail. It's the lovely Mrs. DodgyB's Birthday soon and I think getting her the full Spa treatment would be the ideal gift (there's a risk she could read this and spoil the surprise, but she doesn't like trawling Dave's so I'm gotta take the risk).

Anyone know of any good Spas, for a woman to visit, where she can get pampered to death? I'm thinking a good massage would be #1 priority, but all the additional girly stuff is a serious bonus. I probably wont have one myself as I've never really enjoyed the whole pampering process - I prefer my relaxation in liquid form. Classy huh?

Any help would be mucho appreciated any woman stuck with me needs all the relaxation she can get Wink

I can't say from experience, but I've heard that there is a Thai massage place somewhere in Sinsa. The people I know who went there say it was heavenly. I've heard that comment frequently about Thai massage. It is rather pricey, but it seems that's what you're looking for.

I went to a place called Vichy in Apkujeong. Wonderful but pricey.

There are places in Itaewon, but I don't think they're as swank as you'd like. I've been in the salon above Chakraa, and the one behind the Hamilton, but I wouldn't describe either as luxurious.
Wish I could point you toward some place that is, but I do all my pampering at home.

You could be a cheap/romantic bastard and get a hotel room with a jacuzzi, massage-room-service, and give her some fun mask/mud treatments on your own though...

I think the jokes about giving a girl a "facial" start here then.

Filth aside, I think that a Hotel is probably the way forward - anyone have any first hand experience of a goodun?

Lots of massage / beauty treatments places in Myeongdong, too - because they cater for all the Japanese tourists that go there.

The shilla hotel has a Guerlain spa...I was given a certificate for treatements there as a gift. It was heaven...

They start you out with lovely terry robes and a footbath in a very zen-like wooden room. I then had a kind of water massage treatment...which was me in a private jacuzzi watching wide-screen underwater video by candlelight. I then had a full-body massage in a very swank, private room.

The prices are high, but the service and surroundings are first-class. If you really want to wow her...

By the way, not sure if your wife is foreign or Korean, but as a foreign woman who is somewhat skittish about getting naked in public...this place keeps everything very discreet, comfortable and covered up.

Holy Crapola! That's the puppy for me! This sounds ideal.

The Fianc is Canadian, so I'm sure she'll have no trouble getting naked (All I had to do the first time was buy her a few drinks... What's that? Oh - different situation...)

Anyhow, although I have no idea what the hell a "Body sublimation" or "Harmonizing therapy" is, they sound like like the sort of stuff she'd like. I think she'll pass on the more Korean sounding things though: "morph-lymphatic drainage therapy" for 2.4 Mil? Shocked

Even a rough 'n' tumble tomboy Canuk Chickie can appreciate such things I feel. I'll visit the hotel for a quick reccy I think.

Thanks!

Actually, for other people that are interested, here are some other options, especially with the Shilla being uber pricey and whatnot:

Sofitel Ambassador Hotel Spa

Marriot version

The "W"

Any other hotels I should think of?

Spa Day in Hannam Dong is good- their prices are pretty reasonable, and they are used to foreigners there. It's in the building that has the SSang Yong dealership on the first floor- Dr. Sung's OB/GYN clinic is in the same building, as well.
