So what days are stores closed?
I guess I'm most interested in Costco and big department stores and COEX?
Are any of these big 3 closed for anydays October 5-7th? |

| You can count on things being closed on actual Chuseok day, the 6th. As for the 5th and the 7th.. I'd be surprised if they were, but you might want to call and check. |

| Most places are cloased on the 6th. However something to remember is that ATMs will have a big run on them so make sure you have enough cash to last the week! |

Think of it as the equivalent of Christmas day in Western countries.
Small businesses close to be with their families as do most big companies.
Those in small towns should head for the nearest Family Mart or chain concenience store. But don't PLAN to shop then!!!
Do your shopping now not on Chuseok. |

Be ready to see your little town inundated with out-of-towners. When Seoul et al empty out for the holidays its because everyone is coming to your little town to see granny. So traffic will be heavy. Streets will be crowded. There will be a buzz in the air that is not normal.
Do your shopping today (Wednesday) and take it easy tomorrow. By Friday, Chuseok Day, should you be feeling cabin fever, try going downtown. Restaurants should be open and full of tired ajumma customers who don't want to do any more cooking. Everyone will be in a good mood.
Try to eavesdrop on conversations in the restaurant. Little Bum-Suck is saying that he doesn't want to go to Grampa Choi's house because there's nothing to do. Aunt So-Young is saying that she doesn't want to hear her brother-in-law's tired old jokes for the umpteenth time. Soo-Mi is asking if she really has to spend the day with her dreary cousins from Pusan--they are so, like not cool. And Oma is telling 아버지 that if he drinks any more soju with his brothers that she's going to poke a chopstick in his ear. |

| I think some places in Insa-dong (like Sanchon restaurant...) will be closed Friday and Saturday, but everything should be open by Sunday. |
