I have recently sent a slew of e-mails (containing resume, recent photo, and all that good stuff) to a bunch of posts that I saw here on Dave's Korean Job Board.

I sent them out last week and have not heard back from a single one. This is my second wave of applications cuz the first contract I received was shite. Considering I applied to 20 different new posts, what could be the problem?!? I started sending them out on the 25th of september and have not heard back. HELPPP!!!

PROBABLY the problem is that you timed everything wrong. Basically the whole first week of October is one long holiday and bosses are preoccupied with deciding whether to buy Spam sets or Tuna sets for their holiday gifts.

That's probably what the trouble is...

But it could be:

1) Your picture might not be flattering and/or professional looking. Are you wearing a lamp shade over your head so as to appear fun-loving? That could be a problem.

2) Is your cover letter saying the right things? I think trying to sound too business-like by including every educationese jargon word you ever heard just flies right past most Korean bosses.

Also put your resume up on the resume board (but wait until next week or it'll be pushed off the page and nobody will see it - try to post it at about noon Korean time on Monday). You should get offers flying in.

In case you don't already have one, I'd make a seperate email address just for this sort of thing.

i tried to post my resume here on the board, but i got a reject pop up window from dave, saying it's rejected due to "naughty language." Confused i emailed dave for help but no response... but i guess i could try a little harder and email him again.

Ahhhh- VERY funny line. Laughing I graduated C Laughing M LAUDE, and, yes, a couple of knuckleheads (in the US) have commented on that WORD. No one in Korea has said anything, YET.

VERY funny. Laughing Laughing
