|
|
Hi, I know similar questions have been approached in the FAQ but I'm still unsure...
Long story short, it now seems I can't get my official degree certificate for several months yet, despite having graduated in June. I do have several official 'pre-graduation' certificates, confirming I have finished all necessary exams and got my class, but haven't yet attended the official ceremony where I'd be handed the proper certificate. The university also will provide any letters to confirm completion and I have sealed, official academic transcripts.
Can anyone say if this be sufficient to get an E-2 visa? I'm in the UK at the moment and will check with the Korean Embassy, yet I was in the middle of preparing to head to Korea and go on a visa run after getting a job... I'm uncertain of how restrictions might differ between embassies? |

It will NOT be sufficient. It is NOT an embassy restriction but one from the immigration department in Korea (the people who issue the visa confirmation number that you MUST have before you can apply for the visa).
The OFFICIAL position of the immigration department is:
NO DEGREE in hand = NO E2 visa.
They do NOT make exceptions. No visa confirmation number from the immigration office = NO visa issuance allowable by an embassy.
Sorry, but you will have to wait until your degree is actually confered at the ceremony. |

True enough,
But I put a lot of (pleasent but presistent) pressure on my university and they released by cert. early.
I had to talk to many people at different levels but it was worth it. |
