Maybe this is my fault, but I'm sooooooooo broke right now....I can't believe Shinhan bank closed down their banks for five days so that that even the ATM cards won't work - anywhere!

Then, a lot of the random ATM's are out of money because everyone is drawing money out of them...and since the largest demonination is the 10,000 won bill, there seem to be a slight shortage of them this weekend.

<sigh> I finally found an ATM that would accept my credit card, but still......................this sucks..

No money sucks. Sorry. But let this be a lesson to you. Suffering will build character. Learn to be a Boy Scout: Be prepared. (Lunar New Year is coming up next.)

Be sure to take lots of cash the next time you go on a visa run--and have it changed as soon as you can.
You name it, it has happened to people on visa runs.

I would say "bummer" but there was at least one thread about this over the past two weeks as well as numerous warnings. Also, the ATMs themselves had notes on them that they were closing. Sorry, but you should have been prepared. Yes, it sucks, but you'll now have to deal with it.

ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure you go to the ATM and get out money DAYS before Chuseok or Lunar New Year, or you'll be toast! Veterans should know better. Newbies, start learning!

Yeah, you'd think they refill the trays during a time when people might spend more money than usual...but they don't. And Shinhan turning off their services during the holiday has made this former Chohung Bank customer wonder if he shouldn't have closed his accounts after the merger.

I think I took out too much money: there's still about 500,000 won left in an envelope on my dresser.

Anyone wanna party?

You are lucky, no money builds character. I love having no money. I try to budget everyday but I always blow it. The denial of impulses is a sensation you will never forget. Now you have to eat the potatoes and rice tucked away in your cupboard and drink the tea you have been ignoring. You'll actually have to read the book you have purchased and god forbid do some free exercise instead of shopping for an exercise bench. Oh god, how I wish I were you.
