I'm on my 2nd year here, at a different Hagwon and don't appear to have any kind of Visa documentation in my passport, the original E2 I had last year has been stamped 'used'. My alien card has been updated for a stay until next year but should I be worried about there being nothing in my passport?

My boss doesn't speak a whole lot of English, "Visa, what is word 'Visa'?" she said when I was asking about it last...

Thank you and my apologies for a dumb question

Very strange. How did you get a new alien card without a new visa? You will have to ask further questions to your boss. Is there a Korean teacher who can translate for you?

No worries. An up-to-date alien card is all you need.

You mean he/she can work in Korea without an E2?

No. The original visa remains valid (even though outdated & stamped 'used') if you go through proper renewal procedures with immigration. They make a notation on your card & update your files, thats all. My original E2 in my passport died 3 years ago -- doesnt matter.

Oh right. Is that how it works if you don't leave Korea at the end of a contract?
