|
|
Random thing:
Since I've been "Dave-ing" more recently, I've found that I'm getting interested in some background info on posters. So, I've started to click on people's profiles to learn more about them.
Problem is though, most people have it completely blank.
I'm not sure what to think about this, but I do find it a bit, well, crap.
Maybe if the fields available were a bit more flexible or customisable it would encourage people to be more open. Fark.com has a very open profile concept and they are no more geeky than us and a lot of people give a lot of info.
Clearly I'm a geek with not only a website, but a parody MySpace account so I can't really talk, but I think it'd be nice if we had the opportunity to have more of an online presence.
Am I alone here? |

Ummm, ya. OK, I'll fill in all the required information. Can
you also let me know other ways to make my personal info
more accessible to people on the net. I would really like as
many strangers, freaks and losers to know as much about me
as possible. |

privacy is more of a concern to some than to others. I have 9 web sites, but I'm not about to share them with the users on this board. |

I think it's a great idea just to find out how inventive some turkeys are with their socks' life histories. |

there's not much to write up on the profiles... but someone did start a "do you have a myspace?" post, so we can delve (sp) into each others privacy from there. |

Ah... fair point. I was just feeling full of brotherly-love at the time of posting (a Chusok gift of wine from my school). Personally I don't care much about privacy issues, especially on the website thing as I earn money from page hits when random nutters view my site. Earned $20 last month - I'll be a millionaire in no time! |

Once upon a time I had my livejournal linked from my profile here, and my lj covers far more than frankly anyone would ever want to know about me... but sometimes I write about schools on Dave's, and I've heard that sometimes schools read Dave's, and whether or not that's true, it's not something I want to mess around with. |

I picked up on that pretty quick - At least, I assumed that was why no one else really added much oomph to their profiles. I had some stuff, but backed it down a bit...just in case. I consider it lucky if someone even has a pic of some sort... |

You can always put fun stuff about yourself in the profile space, that doesn't threaten your privacy. |
