And a number of queries I have received from newbies over time, I will once again--but this time in a thread all its own--explain the flotsam poster taxonomy. Most of the old-timers now know, but gather in now, old and young alike, and listen to the wisdom of the flotsam.
==========
You see chilluns, a long, long time ago, in Bavaria(and that's in Germany ya see) was born a grand quipper, pontificator and stylist who you know by the name of JongnoGuru, and back then, before he had gone right round the bend, he came up with the idea of highlighting posters' names in bold darkblue.
And he saw that it was good.
And then I came around, and so did I. So I started doing it. And then there was this poster named PATCHY who was an awful, horrible, nasty troll like creature, so flotsam came to a-thinkin': We can't be usin' the same color for angels like Kermo and devils like BigVerne. So I changed the goofballs to red and...
I saw that it was good.
So I started tinting different posters different colors for different reasons, with suggestions from other posters(most recently Q's recommendation that obvious trolls like Otis, should be colored brown, which I deem damn sensible-like) and we now have a veritable rainbow of desgnations.
Which follow:
Darkblue: The standard good guys who reside in Korea: Kermo, billyb, Spin, etc.
Blue: Those nice guys and gals who now reside off the peninsula: peony, flotsam, gang ah jee, usw.
Green: For our imperious tamers, the Mods. z.B. lovely Canuckistan and _*_.
Then, there's the dark side:
Red: For morons, mongrels and the mediocre. BigVerne and Patchy being representative, but not many people fitting the bill these days.
Pink: For generally harmless flakes and goofballs. princess being my favorite and another poster that I am no longer allowed to talk about being my least. Cigar, anyone?
Orange: For posters on probation or in a transitional status. I once offered BigVerne orange status for making a reasonable comment, but then he went back into his "Damn rag-heads gave me weggies at school..." whingings and back in the red it was. Currently GuriGuy and ChopChaeJoe are enjoying this shade as a reward for their original and well thought out comments in yet another dogmeat thread. They truly opened my eyes.
Brown: A troll. Otis, Dev, this new "divorces thread" guy. These people are so obviously trying to get people to say stupid things, it's sad. It's often amusing, and they often provide a service when their plans backfire(a la the Noam Chomsky thread), but they tend to be more ridiculous than relevant. And they often just suck.
Now, I know what you're thinking: Why the hell is jinju not jinju. Well, jinju takes pretty pictures and he is like the stupid kid who makes farting noises with his arm; the one who let's the spit string slither down from his mouth like a pensieve thread until it almost hits the concrete and then he sucks it back up. Childish and lame? Yes. Sometimes endearing? Yeah. He's part of the family, and we all know when to tell him to shut up anyway.
There it is. Mods, let's make this a sticky.
P.S. I expect no flaming as a result of this. Everyone praise my cleverness, and then move along. ^^ |

Why does someone have such immediate access to such a photo? Fetish, is it? Yuckeroo.
(And for Buddha's sake, tell me that is photoshopped...) |

Jinju is also the star of the show, and lets face it, there aint no Daves without Jinju.
Plus I gave you the idea via PM. |

Fan request.
By the way, perhaps you didn't know: the Internet goes to America too.
But if you want to know the real truth: it relaxes me. I work on the computer with my books all day, and this is how I take breaks. Plus I keep in touch with the real people, I actually met, and like, from this board. And yes, I have a full normal social life here, get all my reading done and student teach in the morning. I amaze even myself. Rare moment of sincerity from flotsam--relish it while it lasts. But there are several posters who do the same, if you notice.
And learn how to spell, commie.
P.S. Prove it jinju, prove it. |

Thank you for reminding me: because she is so wonderful Periwinkle gets her very own color.
Corporal. I believe no individual color can contain all the complexity that is you. And I am too fucking lazy to rainbow your name every time.
Maserial, you will be happy to know your suggestion of long ago will be the subject of my next OP. |

How about teal?
Did a kitchen in that.
And flotsam, your guess is about 500km south of Guruland. |
