Anything wrong with "dog baby"? Got some "oohs" in class today. We were talking about the names given to young of different species of animals.

Well. They twist it to mean 'sonovab1tch.'

I made a similar mistake when a little girl was telling me her hamster was going to have babies soon.
There happened to be a pregnant woman in the lobby, so I asked, "Like her?"
Yep. Got a reaction there.

I could never decide if Kep-sekki (dog baby) was a literal translation of 'son-of-a-bitch', or a confucianist 'lowest of the low' reference.

If it's translated from English then I'd guess the term is as recent as the Korean War. If it predates the war then, I imagine, it's an insult calling someone, not just a dog, but a dog's baby - as low as you could get in a Confucianist heirarchy.

Any ideas?

I think it's less to do with status, and more to do with implicating yo' momma.
