I don't mean complaining (although there is that too) but I mean the literal whiny Korean tone of voice when talking. I was horrified to hear myself do this to my husband when he asked me what I wanted to eat for supper last night. He said something about soup and I said "chicken mogoSHIPda" exactly like a Korean girlfriend.

I guess now it is only a matter of time before I start with the "Jagiya, WAE gurae....." business.

Just make a video tape of yourself doing the agaashi whine...after you see how ridiculous you look/sound, you'll be cured in no time.

That said, I have picked up a pretty bad case of the "aiyshhh"s lately and it starting to spread to my oldest son.

here's a toss up...?

Do you prefer the whiny little kid voice that says, "Sir, will you be long on the phone?"

or

The out of control USA teeenager that says "Hey man, I'm waiting for a phone call get the *beep* off the phone man!"

I think what makes them whiny is discipline. Sometimes it's overboard, but I can live with it.

I hate the korean language. Every time I hear 'Yaaaaaaaaaa' and 'Hagi maaaaaaaaa' i rip a few hairs out and grid my teeth a little more.

The Korean whine claimed me and took over my voice when speaking Korean especially to a boyfriend or someone I flirt with YEARS ago. Sad but true. Not saying I whine all the time, but it happens a lot more frequently than I'd like to admit.

I think the problem is that too many words end in vowels.. it lends it self too whiny women's squeals; chinchaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, opaaaaaaaaaa etc etc.
Bring in a few more consonants and problem solved Smile
