I think food, medicine, and freedom is more important than a nuclear power station or weapons.
Call me crazy... |

The problem, of course, is that the tiny nuclear power station in the North can't possibly produce sufficient power to do anything other than--well, run itself.
Really.
The only possible reason for running this thing is to produce excess plutonium for reprocessing; to use in weapons. |

nuclear power requires more energy to clean up than it produces... plants are only good for 30 years. There is no place to store radioactive waste for the next 10,000 years in North Korea. Sorry, wormhole, if you want to give them power, I can understand but the nuclear power idea, that's got some holes in it... |

The same photo 50 years back showed a fair bit more electricity running up in the North. That poor country has really gone back in time. |

Give them the warm power of the sun
Give them the steady flow of the waterfall
Give them the energy of living things
As they return to clay
Give them the restless power of the wind
Give them the warm glow of the wood fire
But take all their atomic
Poison power away...

Actually, to have a good, dependable electricity-generating nuclear power station, they will have to buy one from the west, and nuclear power stations can cost upwards of $10 billion and take 15 years to build. They will have to have something to export in order to buy it.
They'll also have to buy and import the fuel bundles. Whoever sells them the station and the fuel will expect them to submit to IAEA inspections as a condition of sale. Electricity they need, yes, but not nukes. |
