I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago. ( soju and uneven roads = becareful!!!) The school nurse took me to the doc the next day but it wasn't broken just bad sprain. They put a splint on it which I thought was a bit wierd, I have done both of my ankles a few times before and never had a splint. They also gave me antiflam tabs for it. It actually improved really quickly, i was able to walk on it reasonably normally after 4 days but it was still very swollen and my foot was black with bruising. Now, it's 3 weeks later and it has stopped improving. It's still swells up by the end of the day. The bruising is gone but a new one has come up. I have had 1 week of physio and it's more painful now. The physio here is very different to NZ. They just put infra red light on it, then ultra sound, then electric shocks, the a 'soft bio-laser' thing. They haven't done any manipulation or given me strengthening exercises etc. So I'm wondering if I should try Chinese accupuncture instead. Has anybody here had it done on their ankle? Was it effective? The physio here sure isn't working.
