Here are the conditions of my situation:

I have purchased a one-way nonrefundable plane ticket to Gwangju, set to leave on the 23rd of October.

On October 10th, I will send a copy of my passport, id pictures, transcript...etc to the school for which I will be working. It should arrive in a couple of days. The school already has my diploma, resume and signed contract. The company I will be working for will be apply to the Gwuangju immigration offices. Once all of the paperwork is complete, I will be teaching English in Gwangju.

I just hope the visa is processed by the time I leave. If anyone has some insight they are willing to share, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It usually takes around two weeks...but if everything goes according to plan and you send everything as quickly as possible, I think you have a good chance of making it.

You will not get your passport back in time. Tell them that you will have to do a visa run after you get to Korea. It takes about 10 days to process the visa and at least 2 probably 3 to get the mail one way. BAD IDEA!

Ten days to process a visa? It usually takes only one day to get a Visa issuance number, and only a few days to get the visa from the embassy - at least, that's the situation in the UK.

4-10 days to process a visa confirmation number (after the receipt of the documents) depending on which office and how busy they are.

1 day to e-mail the confirmation number to the visa applicant.

1 to 4 days to process a visa an any consulate on the planet.

Why would he not have his passport back in time. He is on his way. Spend a day in London and wait for it. No need to mail/send it anywhere.

Several consulates in the States and the London consulate take 6 working days.
