Anyone who knows me or has read my

blog knows that God put insects on Earth specifically to torment me.

Today, while hanging up some laundry on ye olde veranda, I espied a bug I've never seen before. It looked like a cockroach with the legs of a mosquito. Actually, it also sort of resembled a spider. A big spider. Roughly the size of my pinky finger, I sprayed the beast with Raid, yet it had no effect. Well, I suppose it had some; the bug had wings, but after I sprayed it it didn't fly. Then again, chickens have wings and they don't fly, either. Except for those flying chickens in South Africa I've heard about.

Any armchair entomologysts out there care to venture a guess what the thing was? If my wife hadn't taken our digital camera to Canada I probably would have taken a few shots, though that probably wouldn't have helped -- I obliterated the fell pest with a magazine and now it looks like a piece of cream-filled chocolate someone has stepped on. Jesus it had a lot of goo inside that body of its. The ledge where I splattered it looks as though someone smashed an egg there. A pus-colored egg.

God that's creepy. Fairly sure it was feeding on the earwigs on the veranda, aka the place I never want to go to again.
