|
|
Anyone know where I can go to find a database or list of Korean women wishing to do a language exchange [in Daegu]? I have one of the screwy hogwan schedules that doesnt permit alot of socializing, so I thought this would be an relaxed way to make some friends, meet Korean women, and..what the hell..learn the languge.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

You could advertise on the Korea Herald website. |

I don't think putting an ad in the Korean Herald would work. He lives in Daegu. Another problem with the KH is you'll get the whole spectrum of people, girls to 40 year old men.

Consider where your target market hangs out. Maybe put an ad up in the local Unviersity. Maybe have a link to a web page with your picture, so a girl would feel more comfortable calling you.... |

One may advertise one's location and who one seeks. Go to the penpal section. People in Daegu read. |

I suggest starting your own CyWorld homepage. You can randomly visit other people's sites. If you find the site of a pretty girl and she doesn't have a boyfriend. Just leave a message. Either write a comment to a picture she put up or sign her guest book. She'll definitely visit your page in return and leave a message if your page looks interesting too. You can get to know a lot of people this way as many koreans are interested in foreign cyworld pages. Just post a lot of pictures to make it fun. I'm sure if you post a message that you're looking for a language exchange you'll get even more people interested in talking to you.
I just started my page about 4 days ago and I already have about 150 visits. Doesn't take long =)

Cyworld is a large online community where anyone with a registration number can register and create their own homepage. You can purchase music and skins for your page and probably other things that I don't know about.
You are able to upload as many photos as you wish to your photo album. You have a diary, guestbook, journal section where you can blab about just about anything you want. Umm... probably other stuff too, but I just make use of the above.
It's really cool because there is a link you can click that will bring you to another random page. You can post messages under any of their pictures as well as sign their guest book. People will almost always check out your page in return and leave a message. Just click the random page button again to return to your own page.
It's really fun but you have to read some korean to be able to use the service. Otherwise it isn't hard at all and very fun to look at other people's pictures.
I highly recommend it. My wife set it up for me, but I'm pretty sure the addy is www.cyworld.com |

My cyworld site gets over 100 visitors a day; if you like I can put up an 'ad' there about looking for a language exchange. Quite a few people from Daegu come to visit the place and a lot of them would likely be interested in an exchange.
Pm if you're interested... |

And foreigner ARC numbers don't work. So unless you illegally use a Korean's number you can't create a cyworld page. |

You can sign up as a foreigner but a friend of mine did it for me. Actually I was just chatting with her on MSN when she asked me my birthday and a few other things. Five minutes later she reported that she had made me a Cyworld page (I didn't ask her to but I'm glad she did). |
