CLG: I see the English speaking contest has been posted on the teachers notice board for Saturday September 30. Do you want me to come judge?
KT: Umm yes. You have to come judge.
CLG: Well I have a function to go at 11.30 in Seoul. The latest I can leave ________ city is 10.30. What time is the contest?
KT: We haven't decided yet.
CLG So if you want me, you need to schedule the contest for 1st or 2nd period. Otherwise I can't come.
KT: Ok.

Today:
KT: We have scheduled the contest for third period tomorrow.
CLG: Well I told you I have to be in Seoul by 11.30. I can't make that.
KT: Oh but classes run 20 minutes earlier on Saturdays.
CLG: That still means the contest will start when I need to leave.
KT: So can you make it?

You mean they didn't also give you a first-draft copy of all the students' speeches to edit and practice with them this afternoon?

How untypical of them.

I feel a strong gravitational pull coming from CLG. It seems I and the rest of the world with me are revolving around her. Just tell me the best time for you when I can go to the toilet CLG. OK?

That might happen if CLG doesnt answer me soon. Who knos if me going to the bathroom now would somehow upset her ALL IMPORTANT plans.

CLG, when you go to the seaside, do you cause tides?

And the contest is on Saturday, CLG doesn't have to work on Saturdays. So if they want her to judge the contest then they need to be more flexible to her schedule.

Jin-ju the contest is (tomorrow) on a Saturday. I don't have to teach on a Saturday. I was doing them a favor by coming in and judging the contest and mentioned well ahead of time when I was free to do so.

Considering I have already come in one saturday this month to teach a CA for half a day, I think this is more than reasonable.

At my school they'd probably ask if I could come in at 8am to practice singing with the students while the Korean teachers are putting up the banner.

I thought public schools were so wonderful because they never involved all the hagwon-type BS...?
