| Ill be arriving at the end of the month and staying near Bucheon. The day before I fly out, I'll be seeing (pun intended) my opthalmologist to update my glasses script. does anyone know of good optometrists, with some command of the English language in or around Bucheon? Generally speaking are glasses (frames/lens) cheaper in Korea than in the West (where they've become exorbitantly expensive in Australia)? |

| My stuff was a lot cheaper here. I just went into a place with glasses in the window and the guy took care of me. I think I remember having glasses the next day. |

| I had my vision checked in a glasses store. It only took a few minutes and i had my glasses within a half hour. Cost about 1/3 to 1/2 the price in America. |

I'd say even less than that. What you'd pay 3 or 400$ for in Canada you can get for 80,000won here (exam included). 25,000won will get you a decent exam, frames, and regular lenses. The store was afraid to sell us the 80$ ones because they felt they were really expensive.... |

| cool, so at least I know it will be cheaper and quite fast. i actually dont need my eyes examined in Korea - surely the script from Australia will be easy enough to understand? |

I've bought 3 pairs of glasses here from 3 different vendors and they all handled it the same way. I gave them my prescription from Canada, but they ignored it and did their own test. They got it right so I guess they know what they're doing. |

I got my first prescription glasses in Korea and have been amazed at the improvement.
However, they didn't give me a paper prescription. I had to get re-examined here in US ($45)
and my cheezy new glasses cost $150, twice what they cost in K-Land.
I'm definitely having a Korean friend stock up on a few pair for me. |

No, they will want to test you again. But it only takes 5 minutes and requires little to no English. Any shop will be able to do it. |
