There are foreign teachers everywhere in Bundang, so I don't think anyone should have a hard time meeting people... If people out in some country town were having a hard time meeting people, I'd get it, but Bundang...?

Some of us suffer from terrible (imaginary) woes and need all the help we can get. We need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the vast and fearful arena of social intercourse. Don't even mention the other kind of intercourse, yuck! A plenitude of foreigners does not a friendly place make. It's a scary world out there, but dammit, sometimes ya got to force yourself to get out there, and actually walk into a store and buy those cigarettes!

Fortunately modern science has provided some wonderful little helpers.

I've thought that, too, for quite a while. People in Bundang seem to have a harder time finding people, finding places, finding things, finding their ass with both hands, whatever. And it's not just people having trouble meeting people, like Jajdude is talking about. It's also things like, "Are there any places to take a date in Bundang?" Confused "Do they sell Guinness in Bundang?" Confused "Bundang. Fitted Sheets. Help!" "Fast food in Bundang?"

So what is it with that place? Is everything hidden or poorly marked? Are foreigners all wearing Korean-people masks? Is it too big & spread out & confusing? What's up with that?

I have often wondered, is this jongno guy really that smart or am I just just too dumb to get his posts?

I decided upon the latter since I, like most posters, are simply too dim-witted to follow such brilliance.

Congrats guru, you have overwhelmed us with your brilliance. We thirst for more.

Rock on, smartypants. We love you.

I don't get it either, to be honest. Like this one above, I don't think that's a particularly smart or witty post. It wasn't really meant to be, and I really had to look at it again after I saw Corporal's little "touche!" comment.

That's the strange thing about this place. I say something humourous or amusing and it falls flat. Then other times I post something boring or just not put much thought into it, and somebody will give me a 'cyber high-five' -- 'Did you ever nail it that time, Guru! Wink '... "Duh... what I say? Confused"

What's a Bundang? Is it dangerous? Can I get one in Jeollanamdo? I never tasted one. Do they bleed guinness? If so I don't like that.. Please advise...

I don't get it either.

When I first came to work in Korea, IN BUNDANG, knowing only "Annyun hasayo....umm anung haseyo?" from my little Korean phrase book I skimmed through on the flight over, I NEVER sweated the little things, and I damn sure never consulted Dave's ESL. Sure, I probably wasted time going out on searches for incidentals, but I learned and remembered how to get to a lot of new places and acquire the things I need.

All I had to do was go out and talk to a few foreigners to find out that none of those things were in Bundang at the time.

That's right you little toddlers! There WASN'T an Outback IN BUNDANG then. Now they have pretzel stores and Thai restaurants and shit. Mommy's not here to wipe the snot hanging from your nose, you need to get out and look around. GET OUT OF MY FUCKING BUNDANG!!!

I sometimes miss living in Bundang. Lot of nice parks, Tancheon, cute shops, and borderline-real coffee. But from reading the posts on Dave's since I left, I don't think I miss the people.

I was curious about Bundang before I got there, but I wasn't writing messages like "Are there apartments in Bundang?" or "Any good running water in Bundang?" Shre, it took some walking around and subway riding to find things, but I didn't come to Korea to be guided by disgruntled Canadians on the internet. I wanted to find things for myself.

But Jesus Tapdancing Christ, if I read another "Are there subway stations in Bundang?" thread, I'm coming up there myself and I'll kick that bitch back to Suji.

The only thing wrong with Bundang is there are too many damn crackers!...and apparently a nearby army base. The next newbie that asks me an infantile question on the street is getting a big hacker on the ground and my back.

That just goes to show that an artist is not necessarily the best judge of his work.

As long as the jazzy Peter Loree avatar is back you can write whatever you want!! As long as he is giving me that look of incredulity and cool distain, it's all good and I believe. That other JongnoGuru wasn't as cool as the Jongno-Peter Loree-Guru. Some people should never change their avatar, and JongnoGuru is one of those!!!
