I am wondering if there are any tanning beds in Seoul (Apgujeong, Gangnam Area)?

Good luck on that one. Koreans generally don't want to brown themselves for fear of looking like a farmer. My mom-in-law looks like she's doing a Michael Jackson impression when she gets all gussied up. Waaaay overdoes it.

Braunshade. Appropriate userid considering the topic.

There used to be tanning beds in a beauty salon round the back of the hamilton hotel in Itaewon, haven't been there in about a year but should imagine it's still there.

And, there used to be a spray on tan place in apgujeong. Expensive and you do go very dark after about 5-6 hours, too much in my opinion. Why don't you just get some self tan stuff sent from back home. Cheaper and much better for your delicate skin!!

There's a stand-up bed in right near Noksapyeong station by Itaewon. It's next to the taco place. It's called Jenny's Tanning and Cell Phones. I haven't been there, so I can't comment on the experience.

As for the place behind the Hamilton in Itaewon, their bulbs aren't that strong at all. I went there a few times before going to Thailand a couple years ago and I went the full 20 minutes and barely got pink (and I'm as white as they come). Normally I burn in 10 minutes in a bed at home, but 20 wasn't enough for me. Plus, the place charges like 10,000 won for one session.

The pool is opening soon on the Hamilton Hotel roof....10,000 won, but it's fun, not too crowded, and you can bring your own drinks if you want to....

Why would you want to subject yourself to EXTRA WRINKLES down the road AND increase your risk for SKIN CANCER? White and pale is better anyways, especially in Korea. My KOrean coworker last years said she was so jealous because my skin is so smooth and white. OR, go to a spray tan place or use self tanning cream. The darker your tan, the older you look, too. Just take a look at 2 women in their 50s. One has been religiously tanning, while the other one doesn't tan. Who looks older? The religious tanner, of course

There's a new place in Bundang that just opened up (SeoHyun). Their posters advertise that you can choose from 3 "styles" -

1. Egypt tanning
2. Jamaica tanning
3. Slimming tanning

No joke.

Also does anyone know the name of it?
