Hey all...looking for some tips on grub in the majestic port city of Busan. Me and the girlfriend are busting out of Daegu for a couple days to see if we can't catch a bit of the film festival that's currently going on.

Would like to grab something nice and perhaps somewhat out of the ordinary.

Any of you Busanites...or others....have some places and directions pour moi?

Cheers!

Go to www.pusanweb.com, click on "Forums", scroll down to "Busan Living" and just under that there's a sub-forum called "Food and eats in Busan". There should be lots of good ideas there.

Some highlights from Pusanweb.com that are really worth trying...

1. Taco Chili Chili (which has changed its name to Taco al Puebla) near Haeundae Beach.

2. Hello Thai also near Haeundae beach.

THese are my two favorites near the beach. Happy eating!

From Dave's too (includes directions): http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=6202&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=120

And there's that great Indian restaurant across from the Busan Aquarium. I've been going there for years.

Ganga's is good, but damn is it getting pricey! By the time you order naan, daal, and your main dish, you are lookin at at least 60,000 for 2 people. Hello Thai (down the alley past the McDonald's is jsut as good quality food, but 2 people eat for less than 40,000.

Best place to eat in Busan is Chalgachi fish market. Not haute cuisine, but can't be beat for authenticity or freshness. Order the San-Nak-Ji or the Chang-Eo. Real fresh.

I'd avoid eating in Jagalchi market if u can - prices there are higher than the other fish markets.

There's a decent Indian restaurant in Nampo-Dong. Walk south and turn right after the Pizza Hut for a block. Next to the traffic circle and the wrought iron statue there's a good Chinese restaurant. A few Viet ones have popped up too.

Generally, Busan is not a place to go for world food. For Korean food, it's a good place for fish dishes.
