|

So a colleague disappeared on a midnight run this weekend 4 months into his contract and took a flight back home to the USA... the director found out on Monday morning when he didn't turn up and his apartment was cleaned...
I can't really blame him for leaving the way he did however because the contract simply makes the honorable way not worthwhile...
So I was talking to my boss and she telling me that he is banned from entering Korea ever again... yea, not banned from getting a new E2 Visa, but banned from entering the country in any capacity... secondly she said that Interpol had been informed and are tracking him...
So, does this happen or is my boss blowing hot air to deter any others with the same plan? I don't know... the Interpol part just seems too far-fetched, its not like the guy is some international criminal mastermind, rather an ESL teacher stuck in a shitty situation... |

Hello, Interpol? I'd like to reeport that my waygook went home.
Wow, really? We'll be right on that one!!! DO you want us to bring him back to your hogwon, or just lock him up? |

No, it's true. Leaving a contract at a hogwon like that is a serious offence...
I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a general alert out at the moment. They'll probably start out with helicopter sweeps off the south coast. And gradually step that up to an all-points alert. They'll secure all the ports and airports. I wouldn't be surprised actually, if they ask a favor of some foreign intelligence agencies, with the definite possibility that they'll hook into the echeleon international digital communications filter to track down any email or phone communications that your work mate makes in the next few days.
However, your friend did the right thing. Cleaning his room beforehand was definitely a step in the right direction. Fingers prints, DNA evidence, body odor for dogs to track, are all valuable pieces of information that he could have inadvertenly left behind for the agent, sorry - I meant TEAM of agents that are undoubtedly tracking him down as we speak.
And he shouldn't think that he's safe just because he's back on home soil. No Sir. Because it's just when you let your guard down that they get you. I have two words for your friend ... SLEEPER AGENT.
He could meet and attractive Asian-looking girl on the street, five months from now. Or perhaps go into a Korean restaurant for lunch. Or maybe even take a wrong turn and end up in the Chinatown district. And before he knows it, his lifeless, drugged-up, half-corpse is being trafficked back to Korea along the immigrant-smuggler route. And he'll find himself back in a hogwon doing duck, duck goose with some insane 5 year olds, as quick as you can say 'diplomatic immunity' |
