OR, how to tell a Repube in Demo clothing:
Gopher: All this shrill shrieking about the evil Bush is EVIL and feeds into the Bush machine!!!
EFLtrainer: What are you smoking? The Repubes have won the last two presidential elections and domination in control of congress due to thier rabid attacks on the Dems. It's time for the Dems to get angry!!!
----------
Gopher: You are a shrill, crazy, mad-dog liberal!! You are killing OUR party! I'm a Dem! Devout!!!
EFLtrainer: How can you expect to overcome such egregious lies and dedeit over such a long period of time by playing NICE?? Have you lost your mind???? Are you really a Dem??
Gopher: You're anti-American!!!
EFLtrainer: Dude, you're a Repube plant. You are NOT a Dem!
Gopher: I "just" registered as a Repube!
EFLtrainer: And?? Oh... you thought that was news? Haven't I been saying this for.... six months or so?
However, as of now, after the Dems have FINALLY started to call it like it is, look at the polls. The House is a virtual Dem lock, even with the expected voter fraud, and now the Senate is in question.
People, STAY ANGRY!

Olbermann News Commentaries Target Bush
By DAVID BAUDER
AP Television Writer
NEW YORK (AP) -- Keith Olbermann's tipping point came on a tarmac in Los Angeles six weeks ago. While waiting for his plane to take off he read an account of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's speech before the American Legion equating Iraq War opponents to pre-World War II appeasers.
The next night, on Aug. 30, Olbermann ended his MSNBC "Countdown" show with a blistering retort, questioning both the interpretation of history and Rumsfeld's very understanding of what it means to be an American.
It was the first of now five extraordinarily harsh anti-Bush commentaries that have made Olbermann the latest media point-person in the nation's political divide.
"As a critic of the administration, I will be damned if you can get away with calling me the equivalent of a Nazi appeaser," Olbermann told The Associated Press. "No one has the right to say that about any free-speaking American in this country."
Since that first commentary, Olbermann's nightly audience has increased 69 percent, according to Nielsen Media Research. This past Monday 834,000 people tuned in, virtually double his season average and more than CNN competitors Paula Zahn and Nancy Grace. Cable kingpin and Olbermann nemesis Bill O'Reilly (two million viewers that night) stands in his way.
Olbermann stood before Ground Zero on Sept. 11 and said Bush's conduct before the Iraq war was an impeachable offense. "Not once, in now five years, has this president ever offered to assume responsibility for the failures that led to this empty space and to this, the current and curdled version of our beloved country," he said.
His latest verbal attack, this past Thursday, criticized the president's campaign attacks on Democrats.
"Why have you chosen to go down in history as the president who made things up?" he asked.
///
Even before this fall, Olbermann's ratings had been on a slow rise as viewers connected with his entertaining way of delivering the news, Griffin said. |

With Eye On 2008, Kerry Goes After Bush
By Dan Balz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, October 15, 2006; Page A07
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) barely said hello to the New Hampshire Democrats who filled a banquet room here Friday night before unloading on President Bush.
"This war in Iraq is a disgrace," he said in the second sentence of his speech at a party fundraising dinner.
///
Thirty-two minutes and 14 standing ovations later, the man who lost the 2004 presidential campaign left little doubt that if he runs again in 2008, he intends to be the chief prosecutor of the record of the Bush presidency.
"A lie, a lie, a lie and a lie," he said after recounting Republican claims that Iraq is not in a civil war, that North Korea's nuclear advancement is former president Bill Clinton's fault and that Democrats were behind the release of salacious e-mails that Mark Foley sent to former House pages.
It was as if the Kerry of 2006 was channeling the Howard Dean of 2003. "What we have in Washington is a house of lies, and in November, we need to clean house," he said.
///
Democrats still fault Kerry for failing to fight back against those charges, and he says he regrets that he was not more aggressive. "We thought the truth was understood," he said. "We should have done more." But, Kerry added: "I don't think that should disqualify you from being president of the United States, necessarily."
What is disqualifying, he believes, is the Bush administration's Iraq strategy. "This war is utterly disastrous," he said. "It's without parallel in modern American foreign policy history in the incompetence and in the lack of effort to bring elders of both parties together and create an atmosphere of solving it. And I am incensed that young Americans are losing their lives because these guys are arrogant and incompetent." |

Forget Iraq, let's just look at how Bush has helped create a world where America is seen NOT as a beacon of freedom but as controlling, impetuous, bullies. And then the constitution, erosion of freedom in country.....and , and , and,,,,,,

"intellectual" and "respectful"?
Starting a thread to flame another poster is neither. |

This thread's existence is, of course, fascinating in that regard, do you not agree? |

It is fascinating in that none of you, save dd, have a clue. The point was clearly made, and not a flame, but an example.
You, gopher, have been the loudest, nastiest person at times. You may want to remind yourself that you call names and attack others regularly, then post about how dastardly and low it is for people to do that if YOU happen to be the recipient. You may also want to remind yourself that when we first met on these boards a little more than a year ago it was you who fired the first insults, not I, simply because I labeled some portions of a post as "Irrelevant" to the issue at hand. Your ego exceeds you.
Now, the post I made above does not insult you. It states facts. While it is done in a manner that is somewhat biting, it is not rude or disrespectful. At elast not to you. I d use the pejorative "Repubes," but that is flung at a party, not you as an individual.
And, pray tell, are you going to call Nambu in on yourself each time you use your insipid BLTLawyer/trainer/etc.?
The message really is quite simple: You have called for only polite discourse absent any emotion, hard questions or tough language. Your reasoning? It turns off the electorate. It harms the Democratic party. (Which you claimed to be part of.) All this despite watching the Republicans use the crudest, most dispicable and dishonest campaigning to win the Congress and the last two presidential elections.
So, I called it as I saw it: bullhockey. My message is simple, you are only the example: Don't listen to the Republican behind the curtain. ANY person claiming to be a Democrat and NOT advocating tough, though respectful, talk is either, like you, a Republican plant, or just not awake.
Keith Olbermann is right. He is speaking how people should be speaking: truth to power. Being angry when speaking the truth in no way mitigates that truth, regardless of your claims to the contrary.
Don't let up. Take this nation back. STAY ANGRY. |

You created a thread for the sole purpose of ridiculing me; and you fabricated quite a few "quotes" and attributed them to me -- words that I have not spoken, and, in any case, certainly never with exclamation points, let alone multiple exclamation points. You insinuated (again) that I am a liar.
Moreoever, you have a moderator who has apparently sided with you, ideologically and otherwise, and now you are running rampant.
Good for you.
Nambucaveman: I received your pm/warning/threat.
My response is this: do what you gotta do. |

1. I don't know Nambu from Adam. 2. You are doing nothing more than deflecting from the issue. To wit: You understand perfectly that none of the statements "attributed" to you are direct quotes, but are exaggeration in order to make a point clearly. They are, however, all accurate. You wish Nambu to save you from yourself?
Further, you fully understand that this post thread is NOT about you. You are simply the best exemplar of the "play nice" crowd that either seeks to undermine the Democratic party by playing to a false permise, thus causing Dems to play into the hands of the Reps again, or is simply too naive to understand sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
Your posts on this thread are IRRELEVANT.
As I have been saying for quite some time, the non-Reps in the country MUST raise their voices, they must decry the crimes, the rape of the Constitution... the money! The time for calm, quiet discourse and gentlemanly explanations to the electorate are over. Witness Gore, Clinton and Kerry of late. The approach *I* advocated is winning the day. Your's? You and it are bankrupt.
STAY ANGRY! DON'T LET UP! |

EFL Trainer, are you actually saying, "You're either with me or against me"? Remember what happened to the last genius who said that?
Oh yeah, he was re-elected in 2004. Carry on with your jihad/crusade. |

For the record and the new Glavlit on the block.......
I replied to the substantive part of EFL's post, not and did not, support the first part. Actually, didn't even read it , other than the first few words which didn't hit my tongue quite right. Only read the article.

Actually I'd rather be left out of this conversation in terms of the politics of it. For all intensive purposes I'm neutral. Just wanted to put that on the record.
When it comes to making statements that are offensive to Muslims, Jewish, etc then it won't be tolerated. One person got banned last month for anti-Jewish rants that were pretty bad. Certainly, it goes both way. |

Just thinking of why we "commit" to any kind of view, as oppossed to any other. Like Republican or Democrat, elephant or bear....
Bukowski echoes my point about Republicanism , the want to be rich ..... but I'd rather quote his Born Into This...but for the new stazi, it might be too long......so this will have to do. Might post seperately, and squeeze it in. At times like these, we need to hear prophesy not dry academic misadventure.
| Quote: |
My Father (from "Septuagenarian Stew" 1994)
was a truly amazing man
he pretended to be
rich
even though we lived on beans and mush and weenies
when we sat down to eat, he said,
"not everybody can eat like this."
and because he wanted to be rich or because he actually
thought he was rich
he always voted Republican
and he voted for Hoover against Roosevelt
and he lost
and then he voted for Alf Landon against Roosevelt
and he lost again
saying, "I don't know what this world is coming to,
now we've got that god damned Red in there again
and the Russians will be in our backyard next!"
I think it was my father who made me decide to
become a bum.
I decided that if a man like that wants to be rich
then I want to be poor.
and I became a bum.
I lived on nickles and dimes and in cheap rooms and
on park benches.
I thought maybe the bums knew something.
but I found out that most of the bums wanted to be
rich too.
they had just failed at that.
so caught between my father and the bums
I had no place to go
and I went there fast and slow.
never voted Republican
never voted.
buried him
like an oddity of the earth
like a hundred thousand oddities
like millions of other oddities,
wasted. |
