I just had to post this, after reading another post.
First of all, so many people are afraid of the water, they carry around their little bottles and think they are living healthy lives, the truth of the matter is ALL the restaurants use tap water for their cooking. Where do you think the water comes for your kimchi chegai, do you think the old azumas open their secret stash of pure bottled water, then put it back where nobody ever sees it? Where do you think the water for all the coffee machines comes from? I passed an old lady last week who was filling up a white container for the coffee machine in the bathroom. All of the wonderful tea you drink the soups, the stews, guess what, tap water.
Oh well, I guess in about ten years we will see English teachers lined up in the cancer wards. No surprise. |

You really don't know? All that Korean food you speak of comes with kimchi. The kimchi of coarse kills any kind of bacteria that may be lurking in the water. When you see the prissies toting their Evians, it's because they aren't eating any kimchi at the time, so it's a safer option.
And now you conose. |

| Well, Koreans must be doing something right, because Hines Ward and America's team the Pittsburgh Steelers just beat the tar out of Ilsan's team Kansas City. |

Joe Thanks never held bitter animosity towards Korea and its people as far as I know.
Sorry, I thought you wrote Joe Piscopo. |

If foreign visitors or long-term residents are concerned about the cancer risk of Korean food, they must not have heard all about the health-giving properties of Korea's kimchee.
It is surely this country's most traditional and representative food. If you look for the Korean who does not love kimchee, your search will be in vain. For there is no such Korean!
Not only is kimchee delicious, but it keeps your body slender and attractive. Some researchers even contend that kimchee might also ward off certain afflictions. Especially those ones common among Western people due to their fatty diet, poor hygiene, and sendentary or unhealthy lifestyles. Yes, cancers, diabetes, and worse are what I am getting at.
It can be a challenge for Westerners to get accustomed to the spicy and strong flavours of kimchee. Foreign residents must do two things. One, slow down your intake. You are coming from the Supersize Me NOW! land of fast food, and you are coming to the land of slow and nutritious food -- and slim, youthful people! It's a dramatic change and shock to your bodies. Two, you can succeed if you do your best to be flexible, open-minded and do as Koreans do! |
