Can anyone give me some info on CAIS in Busan? I sent Eddie Joe and email in response to his posting on Friday or Saturday and he's already sent me a contract via email without a phone interview. On top of that it's got a weird clause or 2 (not sitting in class for one) which makes me a little nervous. I'm a newbie and I don't know if this is normal or if I'm being railroaded by a shyster. Please help.

If it's the same place I think it is, and if you're applying from overseas, I would be very careful. From what I recall, the owner says yes to everything, but most likely doesn't read anything because you'll have a surprise or two when you get here. He'll say, "Ok! Sure!!! Sign up now!! Don't misss your chance!!!" and other similar crap. Unless they've changed drastically, I think you'll be promised single housing and then have a roommate when you get here and it'll be in a real crap-hole. I also believe that they were up on some (blacklist) board at one point in time, but I'm am unable to find it today. I think it said something about the head teacher at the time trying to use strong-arm tactics/threats to keep teachers in line. I suggest you do a lot of checking before you sign anything. Perhaps they've cleaned up their act; however, do not be surprised if the music turns out to be significantly different than the song being sung.

Just to give an end to this tale, I sent an email to Eddie Joe detailing the things I needed changed in the contract before I was willing to sign my life away. That was about a week ago now and I haven't heard a peep since. I think he's looking for suckers he can mess with. not people who actually read the contract and say "what do you mean I can't sit in a chair in class? What do you mean you can change my schedule and the location where I'm teaching without notice and without permission?" Just my observation from overseas though. I could be wrong

You're probably not wrong...I'd avoid that place like the plague if I were you. There's much better out there.

I missed the post when you put it up. Do not sign with this school. Everything the previous poster said is true and more. I recently put them on a couple of blacklists for anyone looking for more info.

Here is one of them:

Oh yeah, this school has several names
Super ETS
CAIS - Calvert American International School
Calvert School

There are also two branches. One in Haeundae-gu and one in Dongnae-gu. I don't suggest working with either.
