|
|
can anybody recommend a good tailor in seoul? i would like to have a basic charcoal grey wool suit made, one that can be worn all year.
i haven't heard great things about the tailors in itaewon, i don't want to end up with a zoot suit
but there must be some reputable tailors in itaewon. also, i've heard that there is a tailor in the Lotte Hotel in Myong-dong that is good.
any idea how much i should be willing to spend?
thanks in advance! |

Hahn`s near the international market entrance. Paris, New York Tailor. The Grand Intercontinental COEX used to have an amazing tailor but I heard he took his craft to America.
How much to spend. Depends if you want domestic or European fabrics. Italian Zegna stuff is more expensive because of Korean protectionism. |

i went to dynasty tailor in 2005(....have no idea if still there). about 200ft down the side street near mcdonalds( if youre coming from subway station, its before mcdonalds, think theres a bag shop on the corner.
guys name was bruce. speaks engrish. says he does suits for california lawyers a few times a year, so he might not be around. i went there on a recommend from friend who regularly got shirts and jackets made there. suit was ~$260, 2 fittings. i wanted to get a 3-button, but he said it would make me look like more of a fatass, so got nice 2buton. fairly conservative, but looks sharp. he also complied with my no-pleat request. all wool, was pretty good thread ratio (or whatever its called). also, stitched lapels, inside pocket mongram and a few other nice details which you might not get at some places in twon. went back to have it taken in a bit when i lost weight, that was free.
people keep tellin me that its better to find a good bangkok tailor, but i havent been there in a while either.
good luck. |

thanks for the suggestions!
i just want a slim-fitted suit, obama style, without looking too much like a mod. i've also been told to make sure it has canvassing. |

You might also wanna check out the legions of men's tailor shops around Seoul like Luosso or Kahosi. They have specials and I've heard good things about them.
I've gone to Hahn's and while the staff there are extremely friendly and helpful, the store is one of the pricer places in Itaewon.
Tailors around the Westin Chosun Hotel are more expensive but I hear the quality is higher. |

I`ll always go custom unless I start high rolling then it`s pure Zegna, Strellson and Armani for me. |
