You know that scene in An American Werewolf In London where David transforms into the werewolf? That's sort of how I must have sounded at 6am this morning when I woke up stretching and had the worst leg cramp I've ever felt in my life. Jesus, I haven't felt pain like that for a long, long time. My landlady -- who lives upstairs -- even came down to check on me after she heard my screaming.
(BTW, if a similar situation arises, DO NOT try to walk it off. Bad move. Trust me.)
My question is: should I see a doctor? Seriously, I can barely walk. In the pantheon of injuries, stretching while in bed has to be up there amongst the wimpiest. |

I tried that and it made things worse.
BTW, I normally would have ridden it out, but this was an awakening of the uncouth variety. Rude, some might even say. |

Exactly, a real man never does what is the smartest thing, like going to the hospital when sick, or running away when a hurricane is coming... |

I get a cramp like that maybe once a year. I had one recently and was sore for a couple of days afterwards. I seem to get them after a night of heavy drinking. I'm fine now. |

| Man I hate those cramps. It's very rare, but once in a great while, I'll bolt up mid-sleep screaming at the top of my lungs and hopping around my bedroom like a crackhead on fire. Calf muscle just locks up something fierce and there is no holding still. The screaming is just special FX. |

Is this not a Charley Horse?
I had it happen a few times during army training. Drug me out of the fart-sack involuntarily.
I'm thinking electolyte deficiency due to overexertion and lack of sleep. |
