I work for a public school and my gross income is 2 million amonth. However, I get just under 1.6 net. That's around 20% of my salary, is that about right? |

Ask for your pay slip. It will be all itemized.
90k won for pension
45k for medical
35k for taxes.
total ~ 170.
What else are they deducting? Security deposit? |

This is similar to my school. The pay is 2.0 but it averages out to barely 1.6 after deductions. Our deductions are broken down like this:
Income tax- 36.000
Resident Tax- 3.6
national annuity- 84.460
Insurance- 44.360
Maintenance- 8.000
Deposit- 200.000
As you can see, it's no wonder the pay is down to 1.6. I've only just arrived here and was suspicious about all the deductions but since none of the teachers have complained, I figured it might be standard. |

Deposits are NOW standard for EPIK / GEPIK contracts now. It is in the contract so it is NOT an illegal deduction.
I know that GEPIK is NOW taking a 900K deposit from newbies.
I suspect that EPIK is the same although it was only 600k.
At least you can be assured of getting your deposit back when you leave.
The rest are NORMAL deductions. |
