Hey guys,
I've been pulling my hair out lately! I had a great non-teaching job interview for a position in N.C last Friday. Everything seemed fabulous and the guy essentially told me that I had the job, but as of yet no feedback or communication of any kind about whether I'm hired. I shot him an email yesterday thanking him for the interview and inquiring about the job's status. Woke up this morning to no response in my inbox.
What's the normal waiting period between the interview and an actual job offer? This is of course if there is even a job offer. |

I was offered three jobs even without an interview.
I just sent my resume and recommendation letters.
They asked me if I can start yesterday.

Ok so these were for jobs in the US in a profession requiring that the applicant has a 4 year degree and at least 2 years of experience making 50G's? I don't think so. |

send a follow-up email politely asking about the time frame for job offers. Generally you should send a follow-up email the next day thanking them for your time. Makes you more memorable and is common courtesy. |

I wouldn't hold my breath. What you are experiencing is pretty typical in today's US job market. Thousands of people are being strung along as we speak. Good luck on your search. It was such hiring tactics in America that caused me to consider teaching in Korea as viable option in the first place. |

I, for one, certainly don't miss the dehumanizing aspects of the job hunt in the States.
While job hunting in Asia and in TEFL can be a bit quirky at times - it generally is more personable and pleasant. |

Job hunting in the States is a bit daunting, but when you get the great job it's all worth it. Too much competition for a limited number of well paying jobs I guess. You gotta admit, it keeps you on your toes though! |
