I just arrived to Pohang a few days ago and I am eager to meet other foreign teachers. This is my first time in Korea so meeting up with foreign teachers and getting tips for living in Pohang would be great. Very Happy

Let me know if you want to meet up!

I'm no longer in Pohang, but just go to Mindy's downtown. Tell the taxi driver shinae, uchiguk. (downtown, postoffice). Go down the side street that the postoffice is on, and when you get to Beethoven's, turn right into the alley. There'll be a yellow sign that says "Mindy's English Cafe". There, you'll usually find a lot of marines (before 11 pm) and foreign teachers (after 11 pm). Most all of them are pretty friendly.

Check this thread as well:

Some of the info is out of date (e.g. Giant Step is now in E-dong, Hess is closed, or no longer a hotspot) but generally good.

Yeah, I agree with Huff, Mindy's is where the more social of the teachers come out to get drunk. There's also Beethoven's which has a pretty decent atomosphere but I've noticed a lot of military there lately, so if you have a particular aversion to Marines, that wouldn't be your ideal spot. It's a wasted trip if you only hang in only those places though. If you want to know of some good soju-bangs (little restaurants that serve decent food with plenty of cheap soju) then PM me, I can put you on the track to some fun places. There's some good folks here and there's always room for one more.
