Spelling Quiz #1: You spelled 8 out of 50 words incorrectly.
I missed 'judgment' too even after reading the previous posters reply. D'oh! |

You spelled 3 out of 50 words incorrectly:
vicious (you chose: viscious) - 38.97% of users also got this wrong
pistachio (you chose: pistacchio) - 42.68% of users also got this wrong
coliseum (you chose: colliseum) - 66.04% of users also got this wrong
Pistachio and coliseum aren't exactly English words. I was trying to get fancy with that extra 'c' in pistachio, I guess.
Vicious has been giving me trouble lately-- maybe I've been spelling it wrong all along.
I do pride myself on my spelling though, so I'll try to slog through some more tests and maybe it will catch some pernicious errors. |

I had my doubts about some of the words. For example "jewelry" was included as a correct answer, but "jewellery" is the British spelling and was not on the list. To some people, both options would be incorrect.
Here's a (not infallible) link to some examples of other discrepancies.

Man, I'm second-guessing all my spelling now. |

Here's the thing, I thought I'd chosen "indispensable". I know how that word is spelt, so I'm giving myself 49/50 on that test. 98% -- not so bad for an ESL learner, is it?

hyuck hyuck hyuck! How can a bright girl like you get that one wrong? (Having never heard it spoken before, I used to think that word was pronouced "ah-FICK-shun-ah-doh" and was cruelly jeered by my little playmates for it.)

I'm not going to share all my mistakes with a bunch of trolls, but the news was a lot worse than I expected. And I got "harass" wrong again, even though JG corrected me a while back ... I remembered the correction, but not the correct spelling.
I hope I didn't misspell it in any recent threads, but I probably did.

Boring. AND it only took me about thirty seconds.
Too boring to do the rest. |

Knowing JG, I suspect that nothing was deleted, and he wrote that himself. A remark like that doesn't get past his personal censor until certain hours of the evening have passed, and several vodka and tonics (with a twist of lemon) have passed through him. |

You know something? You're a mean little spoilsport when you want to be.
And it's l i m e, hang it all. Though I've been thinking of switching to a twist of frog. |

Judgement and Judgment are both perfectly acceptable spellings. In a legal context, it is usually "judgment", but in a non-legal context then judgement is generally more popular. |
