My s.o. has recently moved in and decided to bring some kimchi with her. I don't mind eating it 2-3 times a week, but the smell is killing me! Everything in my fridge reeks and now tastes like kimchi. Kimchi bagels, kimchi cheese, kimchi iced tea, etc. Evil or Very Mad

What's the best to do? Baking powder, coffee? Will they actually work or am I gonna have to shell out the dough for a kimchi fridge?

A box of baking soda and a lemon (cut in half) in the fridge will help some.

Make sure all of your other food is sealed in plastic.

I've had kimchi stored in my fridge in plastic containers with no smell.

Winter is coming soon, she can put her kimchi on the balcony.

Otherwise... make her buy a little bar fridge for the stuff. Razz

Is the kimchi in a well-sealed container? I think if it's stored properly, and your other food is also wrapped-up well, you won't have a problem. I'd try to get used to it if I were you!!^^ Kimchi bagel doesn't sound too bad, actually....

I had the same problem! My gf's mom sends us about 5 kilos -- no kidding -- of kimchi once every two months. The whole house reeks for weeks and the everything in the fridge is ruined.

Kimchi milk in coffee is not delicious.

We put a plastic bag around the lock-tight container. It helped a lot. Just the containers themselves can't hold the beast back.

Good luck!
