Are there many new jobs starting in January? Maybe because it's the beginning of the New Year?
Or is it better to do a winter camp then start looking for a job? Is February slow since school starts again in March?
Thanks. |

If you are interested in teaching in South Korea, now is the time to start looking over the job ads. Peak hiring season is upon us for jobs starting in Jan/Feb/March. Public schools and universities will be going on vacation in December and the students will be enrolling in hakwons and winter camps. |

I would suggest not coming to Korea in January just because it is so damn cold. |

For hakwons it is always hiring season. They are also very busy between Dec and Mar. They run their intensive and extra classes during the public school breaks. Camps are usually NOT a good idea. Most newbies get burned doing camps.
Public schools do their recruiting in Jan. because it takes about 21-30 days to get through the paperwork for the visa and they can ensure that they have you here for the first day of school (or perhaps a couple days early to settle in).
UNIs do their recruiting in Nov and Dec for the March term start. For out of country hires the process is long and convoluted. They usually prefer to hire in-country.
UNIgwans - university language institutes typically do their hiring about 45 days before the beginning of the term. They are more like a hakwon with some uni classes than actual university teaching. You can end up teaching kids in a UNIgwan. |

Thanks for the replies.
I'm not sure if I'll sign a contract since I have a work visa. Is it safe to assume that various part-time jobs are available in Jan. and Feb. also?Especially if you suggest not doing a camp, piling up several part-times is the way I think I'll be heading... |
