Ok, I am having a bit of a dispute with my employer regarding my one-way ticket to Korea.
At the time of signing my contract I was already in Korea. My company therefore claims they do not have to pay the one-way ticket promised in the contract. However, the only line in the contract relating to this matter reads: "Employer will provide the Teacher with the one-way economy class ticket to Korea."
Anyone out there with the same situation, could you let me know what happened with regards to your one-way ticket. Did you receive payment or not?
Regards

Typically, if you get hired in Korea, the employer will pay for your visa run (usually to Japan) in place of your ticket to Korea.
If you haven't made your visa run yet, then you are under NO obligation to continue working (illegally I might add) for your present employer. You are free to walk at your convenience.
If you are having a major disagreement over this, how about medical, pension or other benefits?
Pick a new job.
The exception for this would be someone who is on an F2 or F4 visa and does NOT need to make a visa run. In this case you should negotiate a much better deal or change jobs. |
