That's both a statement and a question. I am pretty sure they are finished here.
I was getting them at SS Plaza in Seo Hyun; particularly fond of the organic yellow corn chips, which were selling for 5,500 won. Suddenly disappeared off the shelf early this month.
I called the telephone of the importer, as listed on that little label they put on imported products (usually covering the English of the ingredients, nutrition info !). The importer said they weren't going to import them any longer because of poor sales and the ones they pulled from the shelves had end of October this year expiration dates.
I arranged to buy a dozen bags of the yellow corn chips and a four of the blue corn chips from that office. Had to drive over the Ja Yang Dong, across the bridge from Chamsil / Lotte area. Paid just 4,000 per bag. (When in Thailand, you can get them for about 2,500 won a bag.) Figure I've got enough to last me into the spring of next year! I don't eat them frequently, but love to have them when I do. The expiration dates are only suggestions anyway! Besides, . . compared to some of the things you'll find yourself eating in Korea . . . . . .
Asked if anyone else was importing Kettle Chips brand and they thought not.
So, the question part of it: Anyone see Kettle Chips still being sold out there? In particular, the corn chips? |

I smell a 14 page thread coming on. it'll probably get so contentious that it needs to be locked by nambucaveman. |

Hang on. Kettle Chip's were in Korea? Man, I would have so killed for Kettle Chip's. Had to make do with bloody gochujang flavour Swing Chips.
What flavours did/do they have? |

Great. I would guess that Costco imports its own stuff.
The importer who was selling them in Samsung Plaza and other supermarkets was a rather small operator, if the small office and warehouse they were operating out of is indication of their reach.
Hope Costco keeps them coming in. |

When they were being sold at Samsung Plaza, they had three kinds of potato chips, vinegar and salt, regular salted, black pepper and something, I believe they were. The corn chips were the two I described: yellow organic, blue organic. I only ever bought the corn chips.
The spot on the shelf where they were is now occupied by Potato Stix - - small, medium and large. |
