Hi, everyone -

I've been in Korea now for a week. I live in Cheong-Ju city, and I'm just adjusting to my new life. Most of my students rock, my coworkers be cool, and the city seems nice, too. (Unfortunately, my place is on the dead side of town.)

So I will ask everyone a question here that all of my students asked me.

Do you like kimchi?

I can eat the stuff, but it's over-rated. Before I came to Korea, I did a lot of research (this site and numerous books). I couldn't read an article without it mentioning kimchi. I just don't understand the hype. The two Korean teachers at my hogwon speak English really well. I want to learn how to say in Korean, "When I am president, I will ban kimchi!"

Er, oh yeah . . . if anyone's around the Cheong-Ju area, want to meet?

Today makes it one week for me as well oreo. I'm also having a great time... cool boss, good kids, sweet apartment.

Kimchi... not so much. I don't like cabbage to begin with, soak it in brine and I'm even less interested. Spicy dried squid RULES though.

I'm in Mokpo, I dig it.

You are new to Korea, huh? Just you wait for the day you feel that you've been robbed when a meal is served without kim-chi. It'll come, and you'll know that some strange change has come over you.

Is that right? If it's not, it's not my doing. Wink

That's almost right, except that Korean letters look like this ㅁㄴㅇㄹ not this asdf. But I do encourage Mr. Victim to study the line you showed him and speak it to every Korean he meets, just as they will say it's nice to meet him.
