(Sore Loser Effect)
<a rant>
So I play badminton in a community centre with about 15 other fellas. I would say I'm just under average in terms of ability (not bad for a fat "Ace" white guy who hasn't played since high school).

Thing is, it seems very few people want to play with me; even the people who are not better than me. The problem is this older fella.

It started a while ago when I made up a "new serve". Traditionally, you do a short serve or a long, high serve. I do a low long and fast serve. The old fella can't seem to take the fact that I am faking him out of his shoes 25% of the time so he started to complain.
First it was "that serve is not in the rule book". I reply "I don't think it's illegal"
"You serve to high. The rules say below your waste".
Problem is, as you could guess, 13 of the 15 guys serve by the elbows and he never complains about them. And being the older guy (and not the only "victim" of the "new serve") he easily rallied other players to the complaining.
So I spent the next day, in order to "appease" him, serving from below my knees (which was not easy nor productive).
jerks didn't get it.

A couple days later AGAIN, they start complaining to me. I've been playing again for a couple months and I've, just in the last few weeks, finally sorted out aiming during my serve. For example, aiming for the front left corner and hitting front right.
Then they have, ALL of them, the balls to complain (not with words but with condescending actions) that I need to stop moving my hands and body when I serve.
I joke, "Ahhh yes...but it is a good trick"...
A few men laugh and back off....the old guy and a few cronies continue to lay it on..."trick no"....
BAH I say!

I can't WAIT for my sprained toe to heal up so I can bust that guys balls and make him run like a fat kid to a pie eating contest. Of course, once I get good enough to beat him, I am 100% CERTAIN that he will never play me again....
