Hi all,
My wife is coming to visit me for a week, she arrives on Monday. I haven't been here that long, but I would like her to get a good impression of Seoul so perhaps in the future I can convince her to move here for a while.
First up, I live in Sinchon in a place that is ok, but not that nice. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hotel that maximizes quality/cost? I searched the forums but haven't found anything exactly right, and personal experience is always a better guide.
Second, suggestions for things to do in Seoul with your wife (not just a girlfriend- I may get slammed for that, but it can make a difference). I know it depends on what she likes, she likes the shopping - so I am set for that - but any other ideas suggestions would be welcomed. I have lonely planet and other guides, but again forums are great for ideas that you would not find elsewhere.
Thanks in advance. |

Make sure you take her to places that you don't usually take your mistresses. Also, maintain handupon silence with aforementioned mistresses.
Ibis Hotel near Myongdong (at least I think it's near Myongdong, I don't live in Seoul) is quite nice. My friend's parents stayed there when they came to visit him. |

Some thoughts:
- go on a date - dinner and a movie or dinner and a show, when was the last time you did that, huh? Follow it by a cable car ride up to Namsan tower
- rent bikes and travel the bike trails on Yeoido Island
- visit a DVD room, explain what young Koreans usually do there, make up for lost time
- go to a buffet, that way she can pick and choose the Korean food she wants to try, rather than just get one dish that she might not be able to stand
- go to Incheon Hot Springs, or get her a mani/pedi - these experiences would cost much more out of Korea. If she's not squeamish, maybe she'd be interested in a jim jil bang (go late-late at night so it's less full)
- take a hike and include a picnic (sorry, I forget what time she's coming, it might be too cold for this)
- go spend a few days on Jeju or Ulleung-do for some romantic fishing village time spent with locals |

| I'm not sure about hotel recommendations but definitely take her 1.) to building 63 (tallest building in Seoul) 2.) to see a traditional show at a theater here and 3.) treat here to Galbi at least once. That should give her a good impression. If she's adventurous take her on a mounain hiking trip. She can see the natural beauty of Korea as well as the city. |
