That D ick Cheney is delusional and isolated is not news. It's not even interesting. But his statements, taken at face value, are representational of the denial of the Bush White House--a denial as seemingly bottomless as the terrible violence of their "new" Iraq.
Here's Cheney yesterday addressing US soldiers recently returned from a one-year tour of duty in Iraq:
"Having been on the ground, all of you know that we've made progress -- not easily, but steadily. And we can be confident going forward...Members of our military have worked diligently to make sure that more Iraqi families have police protection, and electricity, and water, and sanitation for their homes...By your openness and your decency, by your honor and your kindness to others in thousands of interactions, you've built bonds of friendship that are very important to our two countries." |

America is slipping into the realm of fanatical propaganda (let's remember who Cheney is and suppossedly how much he should value the trust of his fellow citizens).
One big lie to bigger and bigger lies. And all this despite a press that is out to lunch, unchallenging and cowtowing and helping to spread all this propgaganda....
Cheney is a used car salesman, give them what they want to hear -- damn the truth. Integrity is nowhere to be seen in the "black' house.

I was living in America when the invasion of Iraq began and just couldn't believe how so many people thought it was so urgent to install a democracy in Iraq, with absolutely no idea of what it would take to go about doing it. Then there was the toppling of the statue photo-op, which was proven a photo-op in the British and Canadian press, which almost every American bought into. I just sat there thinking how stupid could these Yanks possibly be?
Like Korean parents who pay a fortune to send their kids to Wonderland and Arirang English Camp, it seems they're getting what they deserve. |
