Anyone notice every block in Seoul is starting to get one of these places that cook up a $5 pie? Any opinions on the quality? Sure beats grocery store frozen pizza that runs about $6 in Korea. |

I first saw one sometime last summer after overhearing some people be like "우아... it's only 5,000!" This month I've seen 2 more open up. |

Whenever I'm in Bundang, I always go to this place which has a store by Yatap Station. Totally worth it. |

There are plenty of these pizza joints in my area competing with each other , two of them across the street from each other. I have the presence of mind to visit one of them and ask them whether they would be prepared to sell pizza BY THE SLICE. I think the kids would like this idea. Sure beats having to eat dokpokki or odang!

I've noticed a "defense in depth" approach. You got the Pizza Hut and it's ringed by the $5 pizza take outs which then have little food cart pickets serving 1,000 won individual pizzas to the kids... |

5,000 won pizzas are generally reasonable value. Obviously, every shop is different, but they're pretty good if you don't want to spend around 20,000 getting a premium pizza. |

Somebody take a photo of one of these things. A 5,000 won pizza? And it's not an 'individual'-size pizza? What is this, pizza for hobos? Photos please, and photos that give an indication of relative size. Put a fork or your hand or a beer beside it, or slam your face into it and have a friend snap the shot. |

I've purchased and eaten a 5,000 won pizza two times and both were the worst pizzas I've ever had. I asked for the yachae pizza so I guess I should have expected it. The toppings consisted of tomato sauce, cheese and a couple of 0.5 cm cubes of capsicum on each slice. There was also a noticeable orange tinted shallow lake of oil on the surface of the pizza (I'm not sure whether this counts as a topping). I tried twice just to see if it was some kind of mistake but unfortunately it wasn't. They were fairly big though and they tied the boxes up in pretty red bows.
I'd rather pay twice the price and get a slightly smaller but far more enjoyable pizza from the other joint near me. |

It's a good 14" sized pizza which many people might call a "medium". We all have a different metric for "how many does it serve". For some, a medium would feed three. Others might assume two. But where I come from a medium is a personal pizza. Get your own, demmit. |

Get my own. I would if I knew of a place that sold them. They don't have big "Hobo Pizza! 5,000 Won!!" banners outside, do they? The reviews thus far haven't been entirely favourable, but what the hell. If it kills me, well, it was all in the interest of monkey science.

Shin-ae-dong's Shin-ae-Town Building has a 5,000 won joint.
Go to the McDonald's Restaurant. Look to your right, and 3 shops further to the right is the 5k pizza thing.
The ladies that run the joint serve an edible pie.
There is a rice cake shop next door for those who have a sweet tooth. |
