http://www.sungshin.ac.kr/website3/english/mirror/174/studentif.html

Spring is special to women. This is because we feel that while the actual spring weather comes late, women's fashions appear earlier. Miniskirts worn by women are good examples to help people realize this truth. What is a miniskirt? A miniskirt means a very short skirt. It first became popular in Korea when a Korean singer, Yoon bok-hee, wore it in 1967. Today, the miniskirt's length has not been changed a lot. The only big change is that it now emphasizes a woman's slimness more. Miniskirts are so casual and popular that we can see them everywhere. When women see other women in miniskirts, they usually envy them and feel like wearing miniskirts. However, in spite of this instant impulse, some women hesitate to wear miniskirts, and, as a result, give up on wearing them. This is mainly because they are afraid of being criticized by others, because of their fat or poor figures. This finally makes them frustrated. However, I will now give you some solutions to get rid of your trivial anxieties.
First of all, it is old-fashioned to think that the miniskirt only reveals your shape. Although the miniskirt in the present day has the same name as in the past, it is somewhat different from the previous versions in size. The short length of the miniskirt was important in the past, so most women had to have beautiful legs in order to wear it. Moreover, they were only satisfied with its "short length" to show their slim body. Recently, however, women have become aware of the fact that it is important to express one's individual character through fashionable dress. Women don't wear miniskirts by themselves. They wear them with leggings or stockings because they feel that "Layered look" is a popular fashion style, and besides, it makes them feel comfortable. Therefore, even if you don't have a well-proportioned figure, you can wear miniskirts to express your own style.
Second, the miniskirt can be a way of changing your mood. Many wom-en say, "When I wear a miniskirt, I feel happier than when I don't wear it" This may reflect that most peopl-e, including women, feel that they want to look different from what they actually look like. For example, peo-ple should wear a formal clothing adequate for their workplace and school, which restricts their freed-
om of choice for clothes. Because of this reason, people want to be free from the restriction on their clothes. Hence, we can say, "A miniskirt is a symbol of women's freedom." In this way, most women wear a miniskirt to escape from their ordinary lives.
Third, we can think of a miniskirt as a suitable or fashionable article of clothing. To be honest, I don't like miniskirts because they make me look fat. Soon after I put on a miniskirt, I feel embarrassed because I don't think it is becoming on me. I hate this feeling so much. You may have the same anxieties as mine. If you have you don't need to wear a miniskirt. However, if you think it is necessary to put one on in order to keep up with fashion, then you might have many of the worries mentioned above. In particular, if you are not proud of your physical appearance, you might start to worry about unnecessary things when you wear a skirt. What if somebody criticizes me for my body shape? Minis-kirts are so uncomfortable that I cannot move easily. You might want to wear a miniskirt to create a joyful mood, but instead you will probably be stressed out. I don't think it is necessary for you to wear something you are not happy about. Also, you don't need to worry about keeping up with fashion if they make you feel gloomy because you will think that miniskirts make you look terrible. Wearing min-iskirts should be a means of cheering you up, not a means of making you depressed.
Fourth, miniskirts are the symbol of youth. When you want to wear them, you make your body appear slimmer. But you'd better know that sometimes things don't work out as you expect. If you can't wear a miniskirt now, it may be impossible for you to ever wear one. I firmly believe that wearing a miniskirt is the symbol of youth. Strike while the iron is hot. Youth itself is the best fashion item.
Today, I read an unpleasant article that customers' demand for size 44(Korean size) in women's clothing has been continually increasing. This article reflects some women's wish; they think that they look more beautiful when they are extremely skinny. But you don't need to get annoyed because those who want to be bony have different opinions about beauty than you. You live in a society where various people have various views on their lives. You will be better off if you keep your individual character than merely follow fashion. Likewise, a miniskirt is one of many selective items of clothing that you can enjoy wearing. When you want to wear a miniskirt that is your size and will cheer you up, try it on regardless of your physical appearance. You can make your own unique and distinct style. Once you get start to enjoy wearing it, you won't be afraid to wear it anymore.

Wasn't there some Muslim cleric (in Australia, mind you) commenting about miniskirts recently? What was that he said again...? Evil or Very Mad

What's everyone picking on her views for? She writes better English than 90% of any Koreans ever will.

She's a budding lawyer. Korea needs more women lawyers. With a keen interest in miniskirts.

If you click the link, you'll see the photos she or someone used to illustrate the article. All Western chicks, no Koreans. Considering the article is (really) about Korean women & miniskirts, why no homegirls? Reminds us of Korean taxi drivers with the soft-core calendars on the dash. If you see any nipple, she's inevitably a whitey.

Next month's fashion expose:

Summertime is special to men. Don't be afraid to wear a pink speedo/hotpants.

--it can be a way of changing your mood

--men want to be free from the restriction on their clothes

--pink hotpants are a symbol of men's freedom; they can wear them to escape from their ordinary lives.

--wearing a pink speedo or hotpants should be a means of cheering you up, not a means of making you depressed

And with the right top and trucker hat, you could probably pass as a girl and meet some nice men.

This is definitely a very ditzy topic, but I think it's important to bear two considerations in mind:
- her English is good
- it's for a student newspaper. I don't know about your universities, but mine had an awful student paper; if they did have anything intellectual in it, it was always copied and pasted from Karl Marx. Everything else it in was fluff like that.

Nice contribution. Maybe this will become another thread with hundreds of mini-skirt pics (I can hope, although I have nothing to contribute personally)?

But a man better not even think about wearing shorts instead of long pants on a 35+ celsius super-humid summer's day.
